Five-year-old Moroccan boy who was trapped 100ft underground for four days has been found dead by rescue teams tonight bringing a tragic end to a desperate search which had captivated the North African nation.

Rayan Awram fell into a 32-metre (105ft) well outside his home in Ighran village, in the northern province of Chefchaouen, on Tuesday evening sparking a race-against-the-clock rescue mission.

After digging vertically and then horizontally for 5days none stop, risking a landslide rescuers finally reached the boy tonight as they were filmed removing his body before rushing him away to be treated by doctors, as thousands of gathered villagers shouted prayers and well wishes.

I also suspect he might have been injured and

needed immediate medical attention but there was nothing anyone could have done to reach him.


This reminds me of the trapped Chile miners years ago.

The whole world followed their rescue operations with their hearts in their hands.

They were all rescued alive !

But what would happen to the giant hole dug.

This is so painful

This is one of few times I am watching the news and I literally gasping for breath.

Seeing the video of a 5yr old in a narrow pit 132ft into the earth, as a viewer it was traumatizing, let alone the little boy.

That was a great height to fall from and spending over 4nights in a situation like that would take a miracle to survive.



RIP Rayan... I felt this news in my bones. Hence my personal condolences to the family.

Sad indeed

It's indeed sad due to the outcome despite their efforts, to me, it's the effort that counts, even his spirit will be glad there was an effort to rescue him and circumstances beyond them could not help earlier to prevent his death.
And to the living, they at least have hope in humanity and knowing that the government will go out of its way to render help even in the remotest of places which annoyingly cannot be confidently said of my country Nigeria, they rather inproverish that remote region that provides the largesse which they prey on to the detriment of the citizens at large.

Like i dont really undastand how it happen
Did they kidnap the boy ?
Did the boy play and mistakenly enter the pit?
Did they trap him there?
So sorry to the parent.

This Is really sad

It makes you wonder how lucky baby Jessica was to survive.
