You are too stubborn to understand that there are technicalities that makes supreme Court not able to hear such cases first. Law is not as straight forward like you think.

Yawn may 6th will be here soon keep your shirt on. I'll stand corrected be then if you're right. The constitution already says they have the right so nothing left to say unless you have your own statutes or procedures to cite.

If it wasn’t for pure evil mischief makers bent on marginalizing Igbos by shrinking Igbo territory and giving Igbo towns and villages to states where they have no cultural or linguistic affiliations, we won’t be having this issue. How do you carve Igbos into Cross River, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Benue, Rivers and Edo States?

Ibos need to integrate wherever they find themselves.

Btw the oil wells belong to Rivers state and judgement will be rightly served.

What do 17 oil wells amount to? They will hardly give you 50 barrels per month.

So why did River state government went to court just because of 50 barrels of oil per month?

Suits between states originate at the Supreme Court because they have original jurisdiction on these matter. Where did the AGF get his law degree.

Lol you clowns need to read before making these dumb arguments. Do you guys not know what original jurisdiction means.

Do you think that the lawyers don't read the constitution?
Lawyers are known for twisting any issue before the court to suit their arguments.

Southern politicians have been co-opted by northern politicians to allow the states created by only military dictators from Northern Nigeria to remain unchanged. The states were created for economic and political advantages of the northern region.

Lol you're blaming Southern politicians like we've seen anyone a request. What has anyone done besides complain on the internet. Take note from secessionist over seas and get your local politicians to make formal request. The best part there's nothing illegal about this.

I doubt if know the meaning of the word , ' smart ' , illiterate spare parts seller. Simply tell me what 17 oil wells amount to.

That illiterate spare parts seller is smarter than your entire generation.

In oil exploration, it's not about the number of oil wells but the quantity that can be drilled out of one. For instance, one oil well in Delta state can produce millions of barrels, an equivalent to 15 oil wells in Bayelsa.

I align myself with appellants.their submissions is compelling.the supreme court will have original jurisdiction if the case is straight jacketed or open and close or just a matter of constitutional interpretations.
The Supreme Court has original jurisdiction to sit on the case. This case stands-on-all-fours with the A.G. CROSS RIVERS STATE V. A.G. FEDERATION & AG AKWA IBOM STATE case.

Although I don't know how many defendants are in this case, the principal parties are the plaintiff and the AG IMO STATE. The bone of contention between them is the common boundary of the two states.

Section 232(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 provides:-
“The Supreme Court shall, to the exclusion of any other court, have original jurisdiction in any dispute between the Federation and a state or between states if and in so far as that dispute involves any question (whether of law or fact) on which the existence or extent of a legal right depends.”

For the meat of the case, the learned jurists will handle that.

The confusion now is why they went to the FHC for Soku but going directly to the SC for this!

Yes, it is the same Egbema, what the Nigerian government did was, they went and divide them into the north and south because the south has more oil than the north they did that because they wanted to strip the southeast of resources to force them to abandon the agitation for Biafra. Obigbo, Etche, Obiakpor, Egbema will rather be in Imo and Abia state than in Rivers go and ask them that is the truth.

My ex roommate and baller before he graduated told me he was from Rivers States . I’m from Imo.
I was lost the day I went to his town during his mum burial .
I was telling people I was going to Rivers only to find out it’s Egbema . He’s from Mgbede community.
I asked him why are they answering Egbema , because I thought the only Egbema I know is Ohaji/Egbema , Imo State . He explained there own Egbema is in part of Rivers . I couldn’t stop laughing .
As someone who has knowledge from Surveying ( I studied Surveying and Geoinformatics ,OND ) , I picked interest only for me to understand the greed and trickery involved in the boundary definition between Rivers and Imo . Because of oil , the divided Egbema into 2 , dashed Rivers one ad left one with Imo .
Same people , same language, same culture .
I laugh when Rivers people say they aren’t Igbo . Imagine there towns . They added “R” to their names ...why ? Is it to represent the “R” in rivers eg Rumuokoro, ( Umuokoro, Children of Okoro ) Rumuola ( Umuola , children of Ola ) etc
The Igbo nation will withstand this Balkanization someday . Igbo don’t have king . Proud_Igbo boy .

The lawyers to the FG, Rivers state and Imo state are Yorubas.

The Igbos couldn't get a single sensible Igbo SAN in the entire Igboland.
Same way they couldn't get an Igbo SAN to represent Kanu.

Make formal requests to who?
Are you living in the moon?

America is a democratic country where anybody can ask for anything and be listened to.

Nigeria is held together by guns. The northern group favored by Nigeria thinks only about use of the guns to keep one Nigeria.

You make the request to the local government councils, state assemblies and federal concerned. If you read the constitution none of this information would be new to you. Instead you'd rather sit on your hands complaining about the north. The process in America and Nigeria are similar so get to work. The difference between American and Nigerian is Nigerians dont organize get moving.

Now tell me what excuse you have not to go talk to local government councilors and state assemblies men. It takes nothing for the local government to organize an election or town hall on the matter.

Chapter 1 part 2 section 8-2

An Act of the National Assembly for the purpose of boundary adjustment of any existing State shall only be passed if-

(a) a request for the boundary adjustment, supported by two-thirds majority of members (representing the area demanding and the area affected by the boundary adjustment) in each of the following, namely-

(i) the Senate and the House of Representatives,

(ii) the House of Assembly in respect of the area, and

(iii) the local government councils in respect of the area. is received by the National Assembly; and

(b) a proposal for the boundary adjustment is approved by -

(i) a simple majority of members of each House of the National Assembly, and

(ii) a simple majority of members of the House of Assembly in respect of the area concerned

Spot on!

If there’s one thing Southern politicians have in common with their Northern counterparts, it’s unanimity in cheating Igbos of their resources and territory! And by ‘Southern politicians’ i speak mainly of the Yoruba, Ijaw and, to a lesser extent, those from Ikwerre, Ogba and Ogoni!
