The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC has issued a statement on how Adulterated Fuel was imported into the country recently.

It can be recalled that last week, several citizens complained on Social Media about their Vehicles and Generators experiencing serious problems after purchasing fuel from certain stations. In response to the outcry, NNPC immediately launched an investigation in to the matter.

According to statement made available to POLITICS NIGERIA on Wednesday, The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari revealed that the Adulterated Fuel was brought in from Belgium

In a late-night briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, he also identified the companies that brought it in the bad fuel. He pointed out that this development was responsible for the shortages being experienced around the country.

"It is important to note that the usual quality inspection protocol employed in both the load port in Belgium and our discharge ports in Nigeria do not include the test for percent methanol content and therefore the additive was not detected by our quality inspectors."

"On 20th January 2022, NNPC received a report from our quality inspector on the presence of emulsion particles in PMS cargoes shipped to Nigeria from Antwerp-Belgium. NNPC investigation revealed the presence of Methanol in Four (4) PMS cargoes.”

 He listed the companies as Oando, MRS, Emadeb/Hyde/AY Maikifi/Brittania-U Consortium and Duke Oil.

 MRS used the vessel, MT Bow Pioneer; Emadeb/Hyde/AY Maikifi/Brittania-U Consortium imported the product via the vessel MT Tom Hilde; Oando used the vessel MT Elka Apollon, while Duke Oil imported its PMS using MT Nord Gainer.

“Cargoes quality certificates issued at load port (Antwerp-Belgium) by AmSpec Belgium indicate that the gasoline complied with Nigerian Specification.

 “The NNPC quality inspectors including GMO, SGS, GeoChem and G&G conducted tests before discharge also showed that the gasoline met Nigerian specification. As a standard practice for all PMS import to Nigeria, the cargoes were equally certified by inspection agent appointed by the Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has met Nigerian specification.

Those that certify the PMS fit should be questioned, what about those that pump from the cargoes to the farm tanks, are they blind?

Thes guys are not serious, see the way they are throwing blames at one another over their incompetence. How did the product enter the country in the first place without the consent of the necessary regulatory bodies?

I thought MRS said, and NNPC concurred, that NNPC is the sole importer of PMS into Nigeria. I can see there is about to be a barrage of finger-pointing and blame-trading. This is only becoming an issue because apparently Buhari is upset about the matter.

Ok. So after "accusing" them, what happens?

Is there anyone of them that will be convicted? We know the answer already.

If we somehow agree that your inspection protocol, which I highly doubt tested that particular batch of fuel, missed the methanol check, did they also miss the visual check?

Upon importation to Nigeria, was this particular batch of fuel even visually inspected? From the ports to the tanker and then upon discharge and receipt from the filling station? Anybody with decent vision can tell that something was terribly wrong with that petrol on first look.

We all know that most of the fuel being imported into this country is substandard. But this is a new low! Goes to show the impunity and dereliction of duty that happens on a monumental scale in this country. To the saddening extent that even the source of this contaminated fuel cannot be traced. In the end, there will be no punishment for such obvious incompetence, just business and suffering as usual for the citizens of the largest black populous country in the world.

Blame game

When you follow this adulterated fuel case, you will understand the reason electricity is not working. This is not the first time this has happened. It is very common to mix kerosene with diesel while on the water and smaller vessels pick up the already mixed kerosene and diesel to sell.

The real people who are behind these oil troubles are real businessmen. They are the board of directors of major oil companies who we know very well. And let me tell you, not until all of them are destroyed will Nigeria have peace. To me, if you jail them, they will still return. So, if Nigeria wants to get out of this mess, there should be a way to implement instant capital punishment without retrial for anyone holding a top position caught in the crime. Instant judgment. Yes, many innocent people will go too, but that's the price to pay. To cure cancer, you will destroy both good and bad cells, and then start afresh growing new good cells.

Ladies and gentlemen, almost all the present leaders and public offices holders must be eradicated before Nigeria can prosper.

Take it or leave. It is the only way out.

Prevention: NNPC is responsible for the refineries that are not working.

I thought NNPC was the sole importer of refined crude? So they have been lying and Mr Buhari and co have been forming integrity meanwhile it's been their usual cartel of fraud and incompetence! Why will they ever build functional refineries and stop the bleeding of scarce forex? It is you and I as Nigerians that keep suffering just to maintain corrupt government officials and their cronies in office!

Even that Dangote refinery is one big, smelly smoke screen for the highest form of fraud yet to be perpetrated in this country, all by Northern fulani muslims yet idiots around refuse to let this country be restructured or completely divided!
