Ritual Killings: Entertainers' Lifestyle Don't Correlate With Their Income - Chioma Ifemeludike Nollywood actress, Chioma Ifemeludike has reacted to the recent increase in ritual killings across the country, IGBERETV reports. In a post she shared on her Instagram page, Chioma stated that the lifestyle entertainers show off which does not correlate with their income has directly or indirectly influenced Nigerian youths. However, she disagreed with the notion that Nollywood movies have influenced many to see money rituals as a potent way to make money. She also mentioned that the music being released by artistes of this generation tends to mount more pressure on the youths to make money as soon as possible. In her words; "As much as I agree that unemployment have greatly caused the high rate of rituals and this evil pandemic can be controlled if Nigerian youths are skillfully engaged or empowered but the ‘quick money syndrome, the fake it till you make it mindset?? The expensive and luxurious lifestyle that doesn’t correlate with your income that you entertainers show off have also directly or indirectly influenced these young ones." “Let’s even talk about our musical contents, the lyrics some of what y’all musicians are promoting is mounting undue pressure on these kids, gone are they days when meaningful songs from the likes of Onyeka Onwenu, (late) Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe, (Late) Legendary Fela Anikulapo kuti etc. these were international award winning musicians who used every opportunity to teach impact society positively through their music (some even after death) but fast forward today you hear lyrics like “if you no get money hide your face” … Nollywood movies haven’t necessarily promoted rituals but in my opinion,I think the problem here is the narrative circulated through these storylines that human blood(sacrifice) can make money start raining in a secret room or inside a wardrobe… Can human sacrifice truly produce wealth? and even if it does same Nollywood have shown in many storylines the consequences and repercussions of taking another persons life. The short and long story here is, “an idle man is the devil’s workshop”! Government must, as a matter of urgency, engage and empower our youth. https://www.instagram.com/p/CZ3lRbYLp--/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link 36 Likes 2 Shares

Look at this woman singling out entertainers but hiding Nollywood actors/actress.. None is to be blamed tho.. The Dumbos who indulged in such are to be held fully responsible.. The moment you can't think for yourself and think Killin your fellow being is gonna give you some dough..then that moment you need to be in a rehabilitation center.. FFK's $@ke it's called entertainment for a reason.. The individual is the one who is going to take it his own ways..He is the one who has to decide what is good and what is bad...If he was not mentally trained well in school and childhood with good morals and all then he will definitely gets influenced by anything that he likes at that particular moment.. So it depends on the individual's mental state and the way they receive.. simple 18 Likes 1 Share |

Na money be fine bobo... Some of these words can also motivate people positively. Even in our religious house, if you do not have money, you won't be recognised. Let's us channel the energy to the right direction. 19 Likes 1 Share |

Sadly true. What everyone cares about is the end (money), not the means. And whoever comes out at the end with money is never questioned about the means to their money. 44 Likes |

This is really something we should be asking ourselves everytime before going for a film. So let me start with a story Once there was a kingdom in ancient Nigeria with a very intelligent king. The people of the kingdom were really happy with their lives. They loved their king and worshipped him like a god. The king too, was very focused on the welfare of the kingdom and his citizens. He took each and every decision keeping in mind the welfare of his citizens. Art and culture flourished in his reign. Everyone was happy, but something really unfortunate happened then. There broke out a riot between two groups in the kingdom, it started with a few people and then spread across the town and then to neighbouring towns and in a matter of time many parts of the kingdom were seen blazing in fire. Many innocent people lost their lives for no reason, a huge amount of public and private property was damaged. After the riots cooled down and stopped every innocent citizen wanted justice and looked upon their king to deliver him. The king was in a fix on how to accuse someone, there was no face to a crowd he couldnot simply punish anyone as that would be unfair and immoral. So he decided to punish the people who were responsible for it. The next day the chief leader, the chief of security and the chief film maker in the kingdom were summoned to the court of justice. The king ordered 50 whips on the body of the minister as a punishment because he failed in maintaining non partisanship. He ordered 100 whips on the body of because he failed to maintain harmony in the society during the riots. But to the astonishment of everyone the king order the highest punishment of 500 whips to the film maker. Shocked with the judgement the film maker asked the king about the reason of his punishment to which the king replied that he was the reason to shape the opinion of the crowd which started the riots in the first place. The king mentioned that a kingdom with an intelligent film maker cannot have such kind of outbursts of citizens and that is the reason the film maker was considered the real culprit. I hope by this short story you would have clearly understood the role of films and the film makers in our society and how important it is to have intelligent films and film makers in the society 9 Likes |

Start by electing leaders devoid of corruption, with traceable wealth accumumlation and firm on progressive policies.. If a fraudster or a corrupt mogul is given all the right attention and position deserving another individual filled with integrity and upright, the later would be seen as a fool. Example The old days, pictures with the president used to be sign that one has impacted on the society positively... now you see court proven fraudulent individuals having photoshoot with the president, you even have presidents whom were once affiliated with terrorist sects.. what do you really expect? |

Our society puts so much pressure on the males to make money at all cost, while poverty and greed are the reason behind prostitution by the females. A society that does not know the limit to the phrase 'mind your business' will surely head to anarchy, a state of no law, morals and other negative derivatives. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Put correctly...fake misleading lifestyle, posing with cars they ain't paid for, duplex that ain't Thiers etc. She has a point. To you dumb desperate fools out there...the babalawo will use you for a higher bidder, no body parts or human part in your cupboard vomits money. Nollywood is fictional. It is not real, blood money in the Nollywood sense, is not real. Yes ritualist use blood for their rituals to appease their gods, for their cult or society rituals...but a human part or head in your cupboard can not vomit Money. The baba will only use you for highest bidder, be wise. 2 Likes 1 Share |
