Lol, and I was starting to think I was a pessimist. Even I that hated WB never wished or hoped the films do bad, even if I felt the movie might not do well.
This one no be pessimism again na witchcraft

If you have something to say to me, don't use a proxy like a bitch; instead, speak straight to me, mano a mano.

I don't expect you to get it; based on our previous interactions, you've demonstrated that you're not the sharpest tool in the shed. grin
Goddamn, lmao.... It's like someone connected to the Batman stole your toy at childhood. grin

Which kind consistent negativity be this. grin cheesy

I'm just being cautious. I can see how some people may misinterpret that as negativity, but history is on my side.

And, not to be facetious, I would consider it a flop if it did not gross a billion dollars at the box office. Don't make excuses about the $100 million budget; this is a Batman film. With the current state of inflation, it should easily make a billion dollars if it's a good movie.

But... I just can't shake the feeling that the film will bomb woefully.

James Gunn made an excellent casting choice in replacing Chris Conrad as Vigilante with Freddie Stroma.

Nope I don't think it messed with our Psyche. undecided
We've been discussing DC for a week now. Naturally the discussions will start to drop as there's no new info or content.

During our time, marvel fans were also quiet for days.

I don't think Snyder Zod was generic. He had a compelling story amongst the many versions. Here is a soldier who was created to be a patriot to his world. He wanted to save it but due to politics, the Krypton council won't listen. He had to take over inorder to get the codex. In summary, Snyder Zod on a neutral level was a kind of hero who cared about his people and will go to any lengths for them. The comics has always written Zod as a criminal yearning for power and domination. This one just wanted to preserve Krypton. He was flawed in that he didn't want to let go.
that's your opinion.

Zod in man of steel isn't terrible. He is mediocre. He's just another one dimensional, cartoonish, generic supervillian with a generic plan.
His motivation is disjointed and kinda weird. It only made sense a bit at the beginning.

A soldier who wants to save his planet that died years ago even though it means murdering billions of innocent lives undecided

Faora-Ul was better than him.

Lol! See early onset defense strategy. Infact, I now consider NWH a flop since it did not gross 3 billion dollars at the box office, one for each Spiderman. NWH is a flop.

I'm not trying to backpedal.

With WB pouring its whole marketing might behind the film, combined with the fact that it's a Batman film, plus huge expectations, it wouldn't be absurd to expect a minimum gross of $1 billion, would it?

It wouldn't be absurd. But once we cross $400m, your dragging begins.

You had me mixed up with someone else. Until today, I'd never been explicit about figures.

Logistically, a long anticipated Batman movie, with God-tier marketing (coupled with China release), that fails to gross $1 billion is a colossal flop. Dems da rules.

Anyway, after movie gross $500mn in two weeks your dragging begins with Finesse. grin grin

See this kind marketing na.....

Na this one wan flop when na the Dark Knight.

I trust China to come true. First big Hollywood blockbuster arriving for the year. Let's say $270-300mn cume in Middle Kingdom. 400mn domestic. That gives us about $700mn dollars already. Overseas market should make up the rest to stack up to a billion. grin cool

With release in China, anything short of 1 bill is a disappointment...

Noo, not a flop..
With the marketing expenses, 450-500 million is reasonable break even point...
But that's the thing with Super hero movies these days, it's no longer enough to make a profit, you have to live up to your character hype..Man of Steel, BVS, Suicide Squad all made profits, but they were still considered disappointing by W.B and general movie enthusiasts because their various B.O office earnings weren't commensurate with their superhero fandom ...
Now, consider the Bat's stature in the Superhero community, consider this is his first solo movie in a while, consider that his movie will be the first Solo Blockbuster available to Chinese cinemas in a while then you begin to realise that 1 bill is not the threshold, rather, it is the least it should do...

With China, I'm pretty sure it will do 1.2 - 1.5 Bill.....

That is the narrative ppl are trying to push. And that's mainly because of NWH performance.

Remove Suicide Squad from that list. It delivered in the box office and made profit. Also the movie wasn't released in China and still made almost $750mn with mostly obscure characters and still terrible reviews.
If it released in the Middle Kingdom it would have probably hit 1bn or very close to it.
