I woke up by 6am because I needed to get some fuel for the day. I wanted to be among the first set to be attended to because I hate crowd. I headed to the nearest fuel station closest to me and this is what I met on getting there. Which kind problem be this? Modified: This is Lagos state, for those asking.

If subsidy had gone in 1993,or 2012 even, we won't be having this problem If government had been doing a total subsidy removal, with proper deregulation, instead of the partial removal masked as full subsidy removal, we won't be having this problem By now, working refineries, and standard refined petrol would have been our portion. Please, vote out APC, or vote in PDP, or any party....but regardless of party, you cannot buy fuel at N282 and sell it at N163 and claim that there is enough profit in the system to fix things. You cannot refine fuel in a substandard refinery abroad, and then sell it at a loss. Finally, we cannot build refinery, refine petrol at home for N200 and above and sell it at N163, N90 or even N40, and claim there is profit to keep the refinery working, not with rising cost of produciton What is happening is what happens when government sets prices for any product. Scarcity results, and black markets happen. |

fineboynl:Government has partially removed subsidy, or stopped paying subsidy when the oil prices go down very low. It is what the government calls 'subsidy removal' Full subsidy removal would involve the following 1.Government NOT setting the price of petrol 2.Government ALLOWING the marketer to set the price of petrol 3.Government allowing local refinereis to set their price of selling petrol, government allowing the transporter and the depot to set their price. That's full subsidy removal.(not government propaganda subsidy removal) Good morning. |

House built on deceit will collapse at the sight of truth One of the reasons PMB was voted was for the refineries to work; few months to the end of his tenure, a litre of crude has not been refined. The subsidy payments were for government inefficiencies, PMB at a point never believed in Subsidy until it's staring at him ayan-ayan. We await Dangote Refineries and Pet. Chem. |

Tobest150:Well it is HIS doing. Removing subsidy completely would have solved this issue. But no... |
| Re: Fuel Scarcity: How I Started My Early Morning by Brokeloser: 9:28am On Feb 16, 2022 |
Tobest150:WRONG! After 7 years our refineries are nothing to write home about, electricity is constantly unavailable, corruption is openly carried out. Infact the only campaign promise that was fulfilled was his "change" and the "4+4" years of impoverishment. Once again Ogun kill all BMC crew starting with the carrion griller. |

Brokeloser:Well if Bubu ( and to be fair GEJ, and all our past leaders) had been allowed to remove subsides on petrol ( and gej got rid of subsides on kerosene and diesel thankfully) by now things would have improved We can fix refineries, and to be fair to bubu he is fixing two refineries plus there are 6 private refineries coming up, Dangote included, but so long as you refine fuel at a.cost above 200 naira and sell it at N162 per liter or even lower, the refineries would crash , like the 4 old ones because they would be running at a loss. And even if the 4 refineries were working, we need more refineries. Since government is the one setting the price of fuel, no one would want to go into business of refining pms and no bank would lend to them because subsidy means they sell the fuel they refine at a loss. Niger republic has a working refinery because they sell fuel from that refinery at a profit price of 350.naira. Despite being poorer than us. If they sold it at 162 naira, they wont have money to keep it running well, and it would break down. |

backbencher:True but if he dedicated as much effort to our refineries as he did to the railway that will let his terrorist brothers in and out of Nigeria as they please we wouldn't be having this discussion. |
| Re: Fuel Scarcity: How I Started My Early Morning by Nobody: 10:03am On Feb 16, 2022 |
Brokeloser:Well he should. But at the end it is of no use if the refineries are not allowed to sell fuel at a profit That means subsidy has to go and the market sets the price of pms, not government |
