I hope those who choose small small schools as university choice are learning. FUTO will be alright las las.

Any school outside UNILAG, OAU,UI, UNN and ABU is not on my list of universities.

If you are a UTME prospect or candidate ,stop wasting your time, quit nairaland and social media, choose those top universities, choose very competitive courses, study very hard and secure admission in those top schools.

No university in Nigeria requires more than 25 publications before being appointed a professor.
Most professors I know in first generational universities (OAU,UI Unilag and co) didn't have more than 20 publications before being appointed.
But keep writing and their publications keep increasing even after becoming Profs.
ASUU doesn't have the right to declare professorship of another person illegal. That's insubordination. If they have issues with it, they should sue the Appointment body of the University that appointed him.
It's not within their functions to accept or reject appointment of someone as Prof. If there are issues with it, there's a body that has been saddled with the function of appointment of professor, you sue the body. That's sane thing I expect from the so called intellectuals.
A PhD holder cannot declare the PhD given to another person illegal because the PhD thesis lacks quality.

Unfortunately and interestingly, you cannot even compare the impacts and the knowledge of a Professor with 5 publications in US with many professors with several publications in Nigeria.
The emphasis in Nigeria is on quantity with zero discoveries and no impact. While the emphasis in sane societies is on impacts and quality.
I get your point that's why assu should stop blackmailing us with salary they are paid... Academics is not a place to be I very rich... They should clamour for a system where lecturers don't have to pay to have their works published in reputable journals plus access to grants for research..., better working environment too... After all osihmen earns times ten what a Prof in Italy earns...

Professors who do not have their work on Google Scholar are very old professors. There is no young professors or any other academics, for that matter that should not have their work on Google Scholar, if they do not have it, then be rest assured that they have been publishing in non-reputable journals: all reputable journals have internet presence and google must crawl such journal and index them!

Outside the shores of Nigeria especially in Europe and the US, schooling in your so-called "top" Universities absolutely makes no difference as they're lumped up together with other Nigerian Universities for PG studies and every other considerations. Times Higher Education, arguably the most reputable University ranking service in the world does not even agree with your pedestrian opinion - they rate the likes of LASU and Covenant University ahead of all your "top" Universities bar UI. The earlier you know that, the better for you.
