Every A Lister who's opened before has had flop movies, doesn't change their star prowess... Besides, Ghost in the shell had many problems including the casting if ScarJo itself, it was always going to flop...

Nanny Diaries was a ScarJo movie, the fantastic four movies were critical disappointments, Chris Evans was practically a B-Lister, possibly C in 2007...

Girl with a pearl earring has been remarked as one of the most memorable roles in Scarlett's career... During the lead up to the movie and after it's premier, critics praised her nuanced acting prowess and the film's incredible cinematography.Colin was exceptional too..
ScarJo earned an Oscar nomination for best actress in this movie...

If it's a co-lead effort, it seems a bit deceitful to make it sound she was the solo draw.

Solo stars who became A-listers after a flop(s) became A-listers inspite of the flop, not because of it. The flop remains a dent in their career, not something to portray like it's an achievement.

The Fantastic Four movies were also critical successes. Evans was a B-lister, but one with a burgeoning audience after his run as the Human Torch, especially among teen girls.

Talking about the praise Scarlet got in Girl with a Pearl Earring can be considered a strawman. Yes, she delivered a great performance but did she put butts in seats?
