Amaechi: Kano To Host Nigeria’s Biggest Rail Station by NwaNimo1(op): 10:41pm On Feb 21, 2022
The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, says Kano State will house the biggest rail station in the country.

The minister said this when a delegation from Kano, led by Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, visited him in Abuja to discuss the rail and Dala inland dry port in the State.

“We have two major projects we want to do in Kano; the first being the standard gauge from Kano to Kaduna.

“We are applying to Kano State Government to give us land to build the biggest station in Nigeria.

“It is the biggest station because we are combining two rail lines.

“The first is the Kano-Maradi which will empty in Kano and then the second one is Kano-Kaduna which will also empty in Kano.

“Don’t forget, the station we are building in Kano will be the station that will take passengers from Lagos to Kano.

“If you combine Kano-Maradi and Lagos-Kano, you will know that the volume of passengers you will get in a week will be about a million passengers.” cheesy

Southeasteners are the most travelled people of Nigeria.
The number of luxurious bus, hummer bus and sienna leaving and entering SE on daily basis can attest to that.
Yet SE wasn't among the prioritized in the rail project.

Amaechi is one of the very few I'd queue from 8:00AM to 8:00PM to vote for.

Where is the statistics to support your claim? Did you get your data from NURTW or FRSC? Stop bringing street gist to NL...

I don't think there is any viable record/statistics to back up my claim.
But It is very obvious that there is no Nigerian town or city without significant population of Igbos.
And their indigenious transport companies penetrates everywhere.

The first standard guarge in Nigeria connects Ibadan Abeokuta and Lagos and it's operational in Southern Nigeria while North still uses old narrow gauge

That you see those of the ibos doesn't mean the other regions dont have theirs. Infact it will shock you to know that majority of stakeholders in the transport sectors arent igbos. Just try and find out via google the owners of the major transport companies in Nigeria and you will be shocked. All regions of Nigeria travel alot. There will be a standard gauge rail line that will connect all parts of Nigeria. The government only felt that working on that of the south west and north should be priority due to the inflow of passengers by their estimate. Eventually, the rail line in warri will be connected to the east and the one in itakpke will be extended to Abuja, then Kaduna. The major issue they are having now is building bridges over rivers Niger and rivers Benue...Its quite capital intensive

According to statistics Lagos Ibadan is the busiest express way in Nigeria, second to Kano - Kaduna - Abuja

Economic feasibility of the rails were conducted by the Chinese before approving loans to fund the project and they started with the best and economical

Connecting Lagos-Abeokuta- ibadan- Ilorin- Abuja Kaduna- Kano all the way to Niger Republic means Lagos seaport (Apapa Warf, tincan island , Ibeju Lekki deep sea port and Proposed Badagry port would Service the entire Northern Nigeria, Chad and Niger Republic making billions in revenue annually

Maybe you can let's reason together the sorry state of roads connecting the two capital cities of Nigeria Lagos and Abuja, and see if we can connect this two cities what we stand to gain will be massive compare to what we shall gain by connecting with marradi in Niger....Trailers with no longer spoil our roads again because they will have their couches on rail easy and cost efficient with massive economic boost but this present politician lack functional brain

Train makes money mostly true Cargo logistics and not Human Transport.. that's why West to North corridor is very economically feasible

Coastal rail and West - east rail would mostly move people while Onne and Calabar ports would move goods to Onitsha port and baro ports in badges

Lagos - Kano - Niger would move Containers from Lagos to Northern Nigeria, Chad and Niger

This the Chinese EXIM bank already factored in its feasibility studies before approving the loans

What about SS and SE? No railway lines for us? Later now, they will tell us Nigeria is one. Nigeria is using resources from the South to build railways but we who own the resources get nothing. This inequality cannot continue angry

No one will waste Nigerian resources to build any Rail line in the East. It's of no Economy importance. That region contribute nothing to the Economy.
