The largest known saltwater crocodile in captivity died of ‘stress’ after it was suspected of eating a fisherman and a schoolgirl.

Lolong, the 21ft long, reptile was declared the biggest of its kind in captivity back in 2012 by the Guinness World Records.

Before being captured, the crocodile was thought to have eaten a fisherman who mysteriously went missing from the town of Bunawan, Philippines.

He is also believed to have bitten a 12-year-old girl’s head off and eaten her body two years prior, The Daily Star reported.

Following the killing of at least one person, Lolong was hunted for three weeks.
