The rail line ends in Mpakadan inland port then ferries will carry the containers on the Volta lake to the inland port in the Northern Region.

So currently what is left to do is the Northern rail lines to Burkina Faso, and the assembling of new ferries that will carry the goods from Mpakandan inland port to the northern inland port

From 2 seperate news I watched on Joynews the Ghana-Burkina Faso rail route is the Mpakadan rail line project that is currently ongoing.
They will build an inland port at Mpakadan and one in the North somewhere so a ship will carry the goods from Mpakadan port all the way to the North then a rail line carries the goods to Burkina faso


I don't know about the other rail line that will pass through Kumasi to the north

This plan was deemed not cost efficient because the transit cost by ship was a little bit higher than just having a straight railroad from Tema to Mpakadan inland port where Kumasi bound cargos are offloaded and transited on the Eastern railway line to Bonkra inland port.

Then having the Burkina Faso railway line pass through Many smaller towns and cities in order to open up the hinterlands for trade. Especially the Northern iron ore belts ( to have iron ores directly shiped by rail to the various mills In Tema...
