Even I was almost a victim of soldier brutality in my own estate simply because I greeted soldiers “good evening”! Don’t have time to tell the whole story, but it was all because I said “good evening”.

At least those ones abroad get punished when caught.

Nobody is saying the soldier can overpower the armed robbers, we are simply saying that the soldiers should keep d same energy they keep on innocent civilians on these armed civilians .

How many soldiers are there because you are talking of an army of soldiers while in actual fact, it is just 1 soldier with life and blood and water flowing through his vein.

That said. Now let us assume, the well trained soldier took up cover and he started shooting the thieves from a vantage point, what do you think the robbers will do? And who do you think will suffer it? The masses because the thieves will shoot sporadically at the crowd.

Indeed I agree it’s more rampant which could likely be attributed to less effective internal discipline mechanisms, as well as ignorance/insensitivity to human rights on this end.

When that is then mixed with a population that seems to give moral support to the proscribed terrorists killing such soldiers at will, then the tendency for abuses goes up a few notches.

If u re reasonable, u should have known that firstly: those soldiers are just 2 I'm number, secondly they re not drafted to the scene for operation, they re not there for the particular operation their staying there is just coincidence, they re not the one to perform the operation when it is fully police duty, but u won't see police there.. so do u want 2 soldiers with just 30 rounds of Ammunition each to face more than 10 robbers with enough Ammunition cox they fully prepared for the robbery. U can only blame soldiers if they were sent there by their commander and u now see them hiding. But just because u see 2 soldiers their and u expect them to take full responsibility without the knowledge of their commander. It's not done that way, what if they engaged those robbers with just 60 rounds of Ammunition and got exhausted will u be the one to supply them arms or they should now waited for reinforcement when no one sent them to the area in the first place. I don't knw why Nigerians forget that being a soldier doesn't mean u don't have family either. And their lives also matters.

Bottom line is that we need to do better, but when will that ever happen?

Our police don’t do drills. Even private companies do fire drills that they take seriously, yet our police don’t do any response drills. no drills to cut response times, No drills on how to blockade a part of town should the need arise. There are only so many roads people can use and with the right emergency blockade, you can effectively cordon off an area.

Anyways one can only keep on hoping for a better force, and a better country.
