It's more complicated than that & not as simple

In a democracy winning elections is always first priority for any party even while in government , hence impetus on popularists spendings etc while dictatorships or one party ruled countries have no such requirements perse so the are not answerable to none and hence they have strong military which is coincidentally required by them in the first place to stay in power

But than on the flip side if there is internal dissent inside country due to lack of social development infra etc than it is equally dangerous ( or rather more ) because it is far easier to bring down that country using its own population or portion of its population with minimal effort by external forces without risking own people

Ukraine since breakup was vulnerable more or less due to many reasons , one reason was demography large portion of population Russian speaking ( inclined towards Russia ) so vulnerability always existing , this was the one significant factor which got exploited , something which will bite Russians too in the near future in the east

Giving up nukes was foolish , i remember Ukraine condemned ind... along with west when she conducted nuke tests stating how they gave up nukes etc , I hope now the irony is not lost on them

Economically Ukraine was never in good shape perse so don't see how it could have made things easier , they made significant money by selling Soviet tech left and right, Chinese jump in military technologies was in part due to Ukraine , many through black market , Iran was one of main beneficiaries

Too much crap Europe , end of the day I don't give a rats ass bec if we in their position they wouldn't , let them suffer as they made countless countries suffer during past hundreds of years , their shiit their problem as long as as we learn from their mistakes and actions

Do remember to keep track of the massive increase of weapons sales from USA hence forth to European countries

USA played Ukraine into situation where it stands to profit in the long run ( there was no win of any sort for Ukraine they moment it foolishly decided to be become a pawn in the game between 2 powers ). Everything in this world is about money, it is end game of all games

Russia also got played by USA , they lost their moral standing vis a vis Western world who are hypocrites and use any excuse ( mostly manufactured ) to invade other countries. Also Russia put themselves into a position where it will be increasing dependent of china for survival thereby losing autonomy all said and done ( so USA to an extent losses too ). China stands to gain most in the long run from this current situation

If Russia was concerned about Ukraine it should have opted for covert means to change the government rather than invade , which might force Ukrainians to band together, self respecting citizens might be open to external help for their cause but not invasions ( but having said that I have no idea on the mood of the Ukrainians , if they will stand their ground or step aside , this time will tell )

Extremely true. Can Nigeria attack Bakassi today? Yes. Can Nigeria hold it? No. Bleak. Before every operation, strategists and tacticians debate. You can easily attack any position in a war situation regardless of the losses and costs, but can you defend it? That should be your top priority before envisaging on any mission.

Only 4 African embassies remain open in Kyiv: Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria and South Africa.
The Egyptians are only helping their nationals. The Algerian position is unclear.
The Nigerian and SA embassies have announced they will help any citizen of any African country. Evacuation is being arranged through Poland and Romania.
African passport holders are advised to first contact the 2 embassies and not try to travel directly to the border posts with Poland and Romania.

They have no standing chance... I don't even think they have a functional Airforce any longer, Russia obtained air superiority in the first few hours of the invasion.

Not true, just a morale boosting tale for the Ukrainians. Same as the bombardment of Snake island, with all the border guards giving their lives in battle.

Besides only the Ukrainians currently fly MIG-29s in this conflict.

impossible to say with 100% certainty since we are not there and certainly don't know the facts however logically I tend to agree that it is implausible But it's been making headlines all over so we'll have to wait and see for all the facts
