He (Putin) has been planing this for a while, he must have gone through all alternate scenarios of retaliation from the west. He definitely went through all worst case scenarios and planned contingencies for all of them, so it's probable he is holding back the advanced equipment for someone more equal.
From Russia's perspective, and the way they executed the operation so quickly, they predicted that taking Ukraine was easy probably within a week or two max with little resistance after dismantling Ukraine's air defence capability.

So it's not impossible to think that Russia is holding back the good stuff for a scenario were a stronger adversary decides to intervine.
One thing I can say is Putin is definitely holding back.

As of now I don't think an all out offensive will result to any strategic gain...

The moral is still high and unlike 2014 international support guaranteed. I dont expect a capitulation to happen soon even if Kiev falls. Invading a country is one thing but occupying is another. RU wants Blitz victory while URK is playing the long game here.

I might be wrong and late but i never thought that Russia had any plans of projecting power far out of the motherland. Thats why they have a strong submarine force as a determent but invest heavily on perfecting their doctrine for prolonged regional conflicts.

I don't think Sweden can defeat Russia. We haven't seen Russian EW capabilities thus far in this conflict, to their credit they have also minimized attacking areas with high civilian populations. A conflict with Sweden would be a different game entirely. They would employ more stand off munitions in that scenario.

We haven't also seen a lot of Russian UAV's in this conflict either.

I also think it is easier to attack a position than to defend it. Look at the war in Armenia.

On the matter of being easier to attack a position than defending it is very true and core of the Russian military doctrine. Most people when judging the capabilities of Russia do so using Western Defense doctrines while Russia has a different defense doctrine to which they believe making your enemy incapable of attacking you is the best way to defend yourself.

my bru understanding economics is literally my job you don't have to explain it to me! The point I was making was sanctions from the EU will severly hurt the Russian economy....

Sheer assumption. War is not won by who has superior military hardware sometimes. Go back to history, and you will find out that the former formidable USSR ran away from the rag tag afghans.

It's the Ukrainians terrain, even if Russians overwhelm them, guerilla warfare would be birthed. They can't hold that country!
