Was on my way to Ile-Ife from Ibadan on Friday 25th February, 2022. As the transport bus approached Iyana Ajia at around 5:27pm , we were stopped by the policemen at the check point who then ordered everyone to come out of the vehicle while they searched the vehicle, they also searched the bags of some of the guys including mine after which they requested our mobile phones. I guess they were checking through the phones too see if there were any apps related to yahoo (cybercrime) etc.

One of the policemen searched through my phone and told me that i involve myself in cryptocurrency and said it was illegal in Nigeria. i told him crypto isn't illegal, what is illegal is trading cryto directly using your bank accounts. The policeman said I was proving to know more than him. I asked him why crypto fintech companies like Quidax, Roqqu and Binance were not deregistered despite the police claiming that crypto is illegal in Nigeria. I was running out of time and needed to apologise to him but he refused to listen, he later asked me how much I had, i told him N500. The policeman asked the bus to leave without the driver refunding me while he still held on to my phone. He threatened to take me to the station for interrogation.

THE CATCH
I was asked to wait on one side of the road, I observed that they stopped some other vehicles and searched through their phones, for those who have anything related to yahoo or crypto, they had to bail themselves with some amount and i shaked my head. By 8:00pm, i asked him for the way forward, he said i should pay N100,000. I also noticed they had a POS machine. I told him I had no money and I am not ready to beg any of them. I told them I was ready to follow them to the station, i felt that was better than wasting my time. He later drew me closer telling me that it was my mouth that put me in trouble bla bla bla. He handed me my phone and i left.

It is very obvious that Nigeria may continue to suffer under development within all sectors whether health, security, education etc because lots of bad eggs that exist.

Nowadays, i keep most of my vital apps including even my mobile bank apps in app freezers on my phone or on passworded sencond space.

no policeman will think of search for your phone's second space cos it is not easy to access... If your phone does not have a second space, app freezer is your surest bet. The icon just has freezer as it's name
