It appears to suggest Nigerians spend 14 trillion Naira on foreign educaton?

Maybe if we invest in the sector we will attract spending from Nigerians and foreigners

University education is a business
repeat University education is a business

For that to succeed government need to exit as owners or managers and just divert its budget to scholarships bursaries let the universities operate as businesses

Useless ASUU, same toothless ASUU during Sanni Abacha regime, they rather accept their fate then, I wonder who give the gut to challenge a despot and now they have grow wings in a civilian government notwithstanding, all the funds for education where has it being used for rather they keep certain percentage for themselves, just to bleep country dry... The best thing any government that wants to end this ASUU strike menace is to allow Universities function without too much input from the Federal Government.

Allow them to set any price they want as school fees.

Obviously, the price of school fee will go up. The government can then offer loans to students that qualify

Quality education is expensive and tertiary education is not for everyone.

What has Nigeria gained with all the thousands of graduates and PHD holders?

Primary and Secondary education is compulsory (could be free sef).

Anybody that wants tertiary education should pay the full price abeg.

Do they own the school?

So true.

ASUU is also part of the problem.

If you like give them 100 billion dollars, lecturers wey no dey come class will never come to class.

What nonsense!

In Imo state, they did it to Rochas when he was offering free education to all students in Imo state university Imsu. They were busy embarking on unnecessary strike while painting the government bad for their own selfish interest.
In as much as I don’t support the system of Nigeria government but most of individuals are the major problem bedeviling the poor masses

This present government can lie. The money is meant to be paid every five years (200b). The last time such money was released was during the time of President Goodluck.

This is has always been my position. And this is the only permanent solution to end ASUU strike.
University Lecturers are not the only people suffering in Nigeria. Teachers in primary and secondary schools are suffering. As a matter of fact everyone is affected. The roads are in terrible state, health sector is in commatose. All our emergency services are dead. Yet ASUU keep comparing themselves with politicians.
You can resign and go through the rigour of winning an election in insane society.

Government should have little to do with University education, let each university looks inward and charge any fee they want while as well responsible for payment of salaries.
Government should provide loans to indigent students and financial aid in form of scholarship to bright students.
Education is heavily subsidized an any sane country.. And the university set up by government are meant to provide like a service rather than make profit

Nigerians like you feel that without a University education they will die poor or they won't breath well.

I have seen University graduates that cannot write properly or speak good English. The fault of this category of people is not the Universities they attended, it is the Primary and Secondary schools they attended.

How can someone survive in this era if they can't write or speak well?

We lay too much emphasis on University education in Nigeria.

This has led to so many half baked graduates chasing non-existent jobs.

The cheapness of this Universities has reduced the quality of Education.

For how long will ASUU keep going on strike?

Do you know why on most vacancies you see things like "with 5 years experience"?

It's because a lot of Nigerian graduates are low quality, you cannot employ them straight out of college.

University Education in Nigeria is too cheap.

Nigerians will complain that ₦70,000 is too expensive to pay for University education but go to Ghana or Benin Republic and pay from ₦300,000 and above.
