The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been hit by a leadership crisis over an alleged statement by President Muhammadu Buhari that the chairman of the party’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni has to step down.

Following the statement, there was uncertainty about who was actually in charge of the party’s affairs, as there were reports that the president had ordered the Niger State governor, Abubakar Sani Bello to take over the party’s affairs.

On Monday, the police authorities moved in and cordoned off the street in Abuja where the national secretariat of the APC is located, and stationed its personnel around the secretariat.

It is still unclear who called in the police.

The APC through its CECPC Secretary, Senator James Akpan Udohedehe, had earlier dismissed the removal of Governor Buni as fake news.

This removal is coming a few weeks to the planned National Convention of the party.

I wonder why all this is happening in Bumi and Buhari absence if it was really genuine

Anybody can enter secretariat and seat but the position of the people in NEC can only be removed through the laid down channels
