Bamise Ayanwole: Soldiers, Police Take Over Ojota Park Over Planned Protest by Islie(op): 9:45am On Mar 08, 2022
There is heavy presence of security operatives at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos where some youths proposed to protest for slain Bamise Ayanwole.

The Lagos State Police Command on Monday, confirmed the death of Bamise, who went missing after boarding a Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) service on February 26.

Following the outrage that trailed Bamise’s alleged gruesome murder, some youths vowed to embark on a protest on Tuesday.

In a flier shared on Twitter as seen by The Nation, the youths vowed to storm the Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja and all BRT terminals in Lagos State.

They also demanded justice for the 22-year-old lady and prosecution of all the suspects involved in the death of the fashion designer.

The Nation observed that men of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps are stationed at the park strategically.

Also operatives of the Department of State Services are among the joint security forces at the venue with scores of patrol vans, heavy anti-riot gun trucks and Black Marias.

No protester has been seen at the venue as of 9:00am when our correspondent filed this report while vehicular movement and business activities continued uninterrupted along the axis.

Left to Social Media Court, that driver would have been Convicted & Executed by now.
But we need to allow proper investigations to be carried out by the police to establish facts & not sentiments.

But it's possible the driver was held at gunpoint by the rapists/ritualist/robbers. If he was part of the hoodlums, they most likely would not have allowed the lady to make calls & send info about the BRT.

But he is definitely culpable for not calling the police after the incident (though knowing our police, many of us would have done same under similar circumstances).

If I'm alone in a BRT with a driver & he starts behaving funny or passes my bus stop, I'd be angry & agitated & start shouting, hitting/breaking the window etc. I will not just go to a corner & be discreetly making a video.
Infact if you threaten the driver you are videoing & informing your family, he will stop any intended foul play.

The video appears to be made under a life-threatening situation. My guess is: the hoodlums entered the BRT, & quietly showed the driver the gun & ordered him to corporate... While this was going on, the girl sensed danger & started making the discreet video.
It's possible the hoodlums realised they were being videoed &...

In any case, if the driver is involved it's very easy for Police to establish that by investigating his
-call records
-bank transactions
-friends & associates
-his lifestyle (if within his income)
& a few interrogations.
Thankfully Mr Governor has assured of his commitment to ensuring the criminals are apprehended.

I don't curse. But whoever will campaign for this party again is an enemy of humanity.

The last administration never offered half of the inconveniences, insecurity, and injustices that people have seen in this administration, yet they are blocking people from protesting! Preventing people from exercising their rights! How is this humane? Can someone make this make sense?

This same guys protested and instigated protests here and there in the last administration. These same guys!

justmi1:
If the government is sensitive enough, they should deploy men without arms, and allow the protest while thorough investigation is ongoing, because we can't rule out the possibility of hijacking the protest and making it political.
It's quite unfortunate, that even government managed transportation is not safe...
God bless you. Oil dey your head!

My heart goes out to the mother and the entire family of the slain damsel, however the protest is totally uncalled for at this stage, given the fallout of the previous protest. The truth is no government will allow such a protest to be held because of the uncertain end of such. I'll passionately advice the organizers of the said protest, to sheath their swords for now and monitor the case. Thankfully, the driver has been apprehended, they should get involved via every legal means available to prosecute the case against the driver and get justice for the family, that's the best solidarity they can give to the family.

the question u should ask yourself is this, those who want to protest, can they differentiate between they protesting n hoodlums hijacking it for mischievous reasons?

Reasonable citizens will b protesting n some online influencers will collect money from politicians n change d narrative just like endsars.

Endsars was a very just course but many emotional people couldn't see it when it became politicised n it changed to endbuhari n i bet u no government in the world will fold it's hands n let arsonists take over.

Why are they afraid of the protest ? They should do the right thing immediately by sending the killer to jail if possible sentence to death.
