Laca doesn't score as a striker would I agree. In fact I've always said laca should improve on his goal ratio to chance he had. My issue is that laca helps in us dominating midfield too, most times partey or xhaka will stranded from who to pass to because our midfielders and wingers have already been marked out but laca will come into the midfield hole to give a passing option which partey mostly utilises. That itself helps us in having control and possession of the game and that's one of the aspects of the game laca brings, no coach won't appreciate that esp when the team is built on structure like arsenal. Another the you guys even didn't moan about laca was because we were clinical on Sunday not that he wasn't his misfiring self. He was just privileged that this time his chances was converted clinically. At least I'm glad you've acknowledged the fact that the coach have found a way for laca to help us win games, na spy I still dey wait for to acknowledge that too.
And as for Willian, we all know he brought nothing to the table, at least if anyone one call Willian useless during his time here I don't think anyone will defend in his stead
The bold part of Ur post here seem to me as if u are making a point that Lacazette usually lays down passes like he did on Sunday and other players usually fail to convert those chances....

Well if that's what u are saying I don't agree with you. At least I've not seen him.doung that often and Saka, Smith-Rowe or a Martinelli have been wasting his chances. Instead, it's Lacazette who has always been unfortunate missing chances the youngins provide for him. I still posted one of such of recent vs Wolves first leg.

Let's just disagree to agree, if he will be assist provider or pre-assist provider for others to score as a false 9 I don't mind, but that his old gidigbo style of play should not rear it's head again.

Nobody is talking enough about how Saka stole the ball off cleverly in the build-up to our second goal on Sunday. I mean the boy just had his eyes on the ball and did got it without committing a foul despite Cleverly's thearatics.

I want to see Martinelli do that too often considering he's fast, he can do damage to damage to opposition defence if he keeps his eyes on the ball too like and not always commit a foul anytime he marks an opposition player.
I mentioned that bolded on Sunday oo during my "thoughts on the game" but they banned me and deleted the post(wen using my main account).

I believe we could be doing that more, even martinelli did such too, only that it didn't result in a quick attack.

I'm just happy the lads are growing confident game by game and that's the most important. It's just up to the defence to improve cos it's been long we've kept a clean sheet

I guess the part where I spoke about the coach finally finding a use for him flew over Ur head.

He even said he has 7 assists in last 9 matches as if it's just the last 9 matches that matter and the whole 20 games he has played in the EPL doesn't matter....Lmao....u go fear bias statistics na..
What you need to understand is that Laca is still getting used to that role and me saying that he has 7 assists is a testament to that statement and progress from him. Is he the finished product to take us to the next level, NO but he's doing just fine.

And what do you mean by bias statistics Lol. So Arsenal having 25 points from their last 10 matches (best in the league along with City) is bias statistics? Or Arsenal having 45 points after 25 matches this season as against 31 points after 25 matches last season is bias too rather than progress? Haha funny

God bless you for this. Exactly what most people haven't realized. For modern coaches, goals is just a by product of the structure they've put in place. As long as that is being effectively carried out, they believe goals will always come. They're never worried that their strikers are on goal drought cos to them, everybody in midfield and attack is "strikers". Na only we the fans and press will be worried that so so striker haven't scored.

And I fully agree with your 2nd paragraph. Na why I just dey pray we'll get a more rounded striker next summer. Even tho laca isn't the rounded striker we all want but for now he's trying his best in that role which is helping us win games
You just broke it down in an easier way. Kudos! Nothing else to add and if you check City who I believe Teta is trying to model, you'll understand better. I mean, how can one explain how Pep is toping the league without a striker? That needs to be studied man

Nketiah hit the post on first attempt taking his man one on one. We have been lacking that goal threat from Laca. Nketiah only needs to score in back to back games to start benching Lacazette
Only in your thoughts this can happen!
Arsenal that lost a foothold/grip in that game immediately Pepe and nketiah entered.

You're funny grin

I said bias statistics because u clearly brought out stat that favours Lacazette. U cleverly talked about last 9 matches when Lacazzette has played in 20 epl matches this season.

I already pointed it out that the coach seem to have found a way to use him which is why he could've those 7 assists u were pandering about. It's not like u are making a point that hasn't been spoken about already.

You people should stop disturbing urself.

So it is with this current crop of players arsenal will play like city? Na with all these our 10 naira players we go play Pep style and win without striker?

Like we all don't know how much Pep has spent to play the way he's playing? He practically did an overhaul of the whole team he met at city and keeps adding more and more every season. Can arsenal afford to do that? There lies in your answer.

Who knows, maybe Arteta have good eyes in sighting players than pep. While pep have the idea, before he could get the players he wanted presently, he got some players wrong before landing on this. Maybe we'll do it once(with less willian mistake) instead of blowing money on wrong players. Not also ignoring our youth setup in case we can blood in anyone

You clearly missed the point and let me remind you that in those 20 EPL matches, 5 were subs and he only became a starter after Teta froze Auba. So you mean to tell me that 7 assists in 15 or 20 matches even is not a decent return for someone still settling into a new role?

I only brought stats when I read in your post that Laca doesn't create but you took it as statpad which doesn't add up. If you look closely, you'll see that Laca is trying his best and the performance he puts out there is decent enough. I get you sha

Your right. I'll say it's down to the board. Arsenal can't match City financial capacity but we have a very good academy and a coach that knows how to spot talented players. It will probably take time but if it's whether we'll get there, we'll surely do. I have no doubt about it

I'm tired of this revisionism abeg. My initial post already talked about the coach finding a new role for him since he has refused to be useful as a striker that should bang in goal like his predecessor, I don't understand why we are still going around circles talking about that over and over again.

The fact remains he didn't excel as a top 9....let's see if he will be that guy that will provide goals for others since he won't score himself.

Well, I'm not enjoying it either and I think we're on the same page. I only tried to point out the fact that Laca is our main assist provider which you somehow disagree with from your initial post but it's all settled now

Abeg oo... We need correct young striker(s) next season o. They'll gel, don't worry, after all Tomi, white, ramsdale or gel in defence at once. That striker will gel.

To be honest I need a taller and more rounded striker, to be making use of aerial ball when ever we go long. Laca hardly wins that
Suggest one striker...I have one in mind here but everybody on this thread will reject him outrightly grin

Cedric Vs Watford;
2 Clearances
1 Block
5 Interceptions
4 Tackles
And heavily involved for 2 of the goals!!

For the past few days, I've sat back and watched y'all talk about our system, laca as a false 9 and all the ish.
Someone even said laca has been Simi productive(only assist) in his last 10 matches despite playing about 20 matches, hmm. Was laca our main striker in the season beginning or auba?, When did laca stood out as our main striker and when did arteta changed our playing style?. Matter of fact arsenal ain't playing like mancity but more like Liverpool, firmino links up play and barely scores but everyone knows his important as a player(striker)in that team. 2018 world cup which striker could bench giroud even tho he wasn't scoring?. Yes strikers should score goals but but the overall good team play and result should be priority and arteta, kloop and pep understands this.

It's true ó. Only man utd and Loserpool are our big matches remaining. If we don't lose focus the top 4 should be within our grasp.
If Arteta is watching, the Carabao cup final and now, more recently, the Inter Milan win at A field should be key to how to get the upper hand vs Liverpool. I loved Inter's Spirit yesternight.

I am more wary about Klopp and Liverpool than I am about the others you have listed. Saka is a typical type of Klopp player and he has made his admiration public about Saka. I know he is keeping close tabs and will want pounce at any chance. I have no doubts that Saka loves Arsenal but I hope we don't take for granted and become careless during negotiations because na people like Saka dey get strong mind if dem change am for you.

Speaking about the final 4th spot, there are no easy fixtures as we approach the end of the season. Many teams will be looking to finish as high as possible and away from the drop zone, so as to have a comfortable end to the season.
Our next 4 fixtures are Leicester/Liverpool/ A resurgent A. Villa/ Crystal Palace.
United play Spuds/ Leicester/ Everton/ Norwich
Westham play Villa/ Spuds/ Everton/ Brentford
Spuds- United/ Brighton/ Westham/ Newcastle
Truly, I fear the form of Villa. Coutinho go skin White apart imo.

But still yet, we can.

If Arteta had his way, I'm sure this was his plan; to raid this Young XI of that year. He got 2 already. Should've been 3 if Renato came then. He still can.

Will you be comfortable if we sign a striker just to be giving assists?

I believe your answer will be no. So if that's the case then Laca is falling short of expectations. If Aubameyang had not left or if we had signed a replacement, we will not be having this discussion about Lacazette because he would be gone either out of the club or into oblivion.

He is doing his best and motivating the young lads, but how long will that last?

I repeat, once Nketiah starts scoring, Arteta will be done with Laca. By the way we play, he is supposed to be the end of the tactics, but he is missing chances and handing over scoring responsibilities to wingers who should be his support.

Laca will not see another season after this. Let's bet.
