Military convoys should move in secrecy but in this satellite age that is nearly impossible.

They are effective when you give them 360 air cover and continuous supply of intel in real time.

The problem here is the Ukrainian military is getting Intel from folks who are one step ahead of the Russians.

Without Air superiority these Russians will fight for 25 years in Ukraine without a headway.
