I hope both Court of Appeal and Supreme Court will affirm the judgement so we can have some sanity in our political space.....

Win election , stay with your party
If you have issues , deploy internal party organs to solve them...

We need parties build on ideas and principles not just parties to win elections..

Can a democrat in the US , switch over to republican after winning election? Never neither ways is possible.....

This is why we are not far from the shit hole that some people calls us

I may not entirely agree with you on this. But I have this to say.

Win election, stay with the party. If there's issue, try resolve it but where and when you can't, leave the party but drop their mandate.

It was PDP faithfuls that gave him the votes and APC voted against him. Now he stole their votes only to be in bed with the people that plotted your downfall. It is height of injustice and they know.

This judgement will not stand . What about those that defected from APC to PDP ?They should sack them too. Gov. Tambuwal and co , they are many. If you want to be fair , use the same whip for everyone found culpable of the act irrespective of party's affiliation

I think umahi political downfall is orchestrated by APC members who think he may be one of the strong contender in 2023.
By my calculations if they succeed in sacking him from governorship position the next thing is to witch Hunt him with Efcc.
I think tinubu is doing everything possible to silent SE from the presidential race, at the moment orji kalu declared his presidential bid Efcc open his file case, same with okorocha, now umahi.

Good judgement by the court, reasonable and logical judgement. Good for judiciary in Nigeria. We don't want crooks running political office in Nigeria.

It's actually possible and they do, it's just not that common. There's no offence for it, and you don't lose your office either. We need it here to grow our democracy, and to build parties build on ideas and principles like you rightly said. But it cannot stand because, it goes against freedom of association as enshrined in our constitution and this politicians are too greedy to think about the future of our country.

a law should be made to restrict cross movement from party members who wants to contest. If I want to contest an election, I should NOT have being a member of another political party for less than 4 years, starting from d year of election.

The country stands to gain the effectiveness of the rule of law and the beginning of sanity that can lead to sustainable progress. The only way nigeria can be a country is when the laws of the land prevail..

Oga na u dey read with your anus. Have u forgotten the sai baba tsunami that majority hung on to win elective positions in 2015? Can u count how many of them that defected to PDP and others? In that same 2015, Saraki, house of reps speaker then, and many others won on the platform of APC but defected to PDP shortly after , were they sacked then? NO , but they can talk of sacking people who did it now . Nonsense

Why didn't you sue them.....dimwit without brain. If you don't sue it remains. Somebody must sue for the court to decide. Go dust your brain that is left in the trash basket. If you cannot read and apprehend ask your neighbours for help.

That's why judges supposedly have the intelligence and the disposition to set judicial precedents. The truth always prevail in the end and at some point, people will be compelled to do the right just like the judge has just done. Nigeria cannot continue to languish on the path of waywardness and it will take the boldness and vision of people like the judge that delivered this revolutionary judgement to set it on the right path.

I agree with you on this. It’s all political agenda for 2023. To be honest umahi is doing well for his people why sack him now when he as like 11months left?
Why now??

In as much as I like Dave Ummahi, I detest injustice also. PDP is well admired and supported by the majority of the Eboyians more than APC. Dave won the mandate in PDP not in APC and when INEC announced the winner of 2019 governorship election in Ebonyi, they said that PDP won not Dave. Dave should be charged with stealing and for illegal operation with a stolen mandate and by so doing he and other 17 law makers should be send to prison for minimum of 4yrs. This is my judgement.

In the recent history in Kogi state, when Abubakar Audu died in the middle of an election, the Court said the votes that Audu had already gathered before he died belonged to the party, and those votes were accredited to the APC.

Even when PDP said no, cancel the election and re-conduct, the Court said no, we don’t need to cancel the election, the party that contested the election is still on ground, even though their agent has died, it doesn’t matter”.

He noted that in the case of Umahi , the PDP went to Court and said, “we are the owners of the votes, Ebonyi people gave us the votes, we are the owners of the mandate. This man was a mere flag bearer, he decided to leave us, he cannot go with our mandate, let him drop our mandate and leave on his own”
I have called for this long ago. Any idea why they challenged only Umahi's defection?

You and a lot people are painfully naive...

The judiciary does not manufacture cases. They only treat what is brought them.

If APC had failed to seek redress for the cases you cited, then it is their cup of tea.

In any case, those cases cannot be litigated upon now because they have been overtaken by time and reality.

The governors have exhausted the time limit of their mandates and in most of the cases, were able to procure a new mandate under their new parties.

Umahi:s is different because he is still serving out the mandate.

The judgement is going destroy the half democracy you people enjoy in Nigerian because the new governor will go back to court to demand that his 4 year tenure starts counting from the day he collected his certificate of return. Iyang made a logical mistake.

Of course apc went to court to have their seats vacated but it was fruitless.
