US and Western European countries claimed to signatory to Self-Determination however in 2014 when Donetsk and Luhansk declared themselves republic in line with self-determination doctrine, Ukraine attacked them militarily. Yet US and Western European countries looked the other way. There was no shout of democracy and the need for independency. Now Ukraine is being paid back with the same coin, the hypocritic US and Western European countries are all up in arms voicing silly blames.

Donbas, crimea and Luhansk belong to Ukraine by international laws and agreements. Because Russia speakers are residents do not mean regions belong to Russia or separatists. Russia organized referendum in a sovereign country for separatists and recognized those regions as independent states. That was wtong. Russia annexed crimea which belongs to ukraine. That was not right.
In modern world, that is not how to grab land from another country.

Laws are meant to be inclusive not exclusive. Now, where is the international law and sheriffs to enforce it?
