Another new project... Yesterday, I was on a project inspection

This is the access road to one of the Industrial clusters in Nnewi. It is the road that leads to Chikason group and Tummy Tummy (Kotec) group.

This is part of our deliberate effort to support the manufacturing sector to crash the cost of manufacturing in our locality so that they can compete especially with the coming of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Chikason group has over 7000 workers, while Kotec group has over 2000 workers.

With integrated support, they will sustain and expand their contributions to the economy and create more jobs for our youths.

Soludo Is Giving The Ogbunike, Anambra Footwear Makers The Momentum To Sell More
March 11, 2022

The Ogbunike Anambra Footwear Makers on March 5, 2022, mounted an impressive exhibition of their products at Golden Tulip Agulu, same day the Anambra 2022 Transition Committee rounded up their deliberations and submitted their report to Governor-Elect Cee Cee Soludo. They said it loud and clear that they have the capacity and expertise to meet any order, quality and quantity wise. Their coordinator and managing director, Anambra Small Business Agency, Clem Chukwuka, affirmed their optimism, noting that both quantity and quality will receive further boost when the state-of-the-art machines already procured are put to use. Soludo on arrival at the venue inspected the products and expressed satisfaction with the quality and innovations.

Almost all the members of the Transition Committee who visited the exhibition stand also expressed surprise that the world-class products are made in Anambra. This is understandable because Anambra does not scale up on the supply side when footwear is on a consumer’s mind. He or she would naturally think of markets like Italy, Spain or Aba which have long been associated as sources of footwear. This perception needs to change as precondition for Ogbunike footwear to fully exploit opportunities in the local and global footwear markets.

The reassuring news is that the products are of international quality and standards. Seriously, what we need now is to build brands from the products. Grouping them under one generic made-in-Anambra name is not the way to go, though Anambra remains the source of authority. The foremost footwear makers should be encouraged to develop their brands with a view to partaking in the global market. Thereafter, three critical factors are needed for success, namely: imageries, associations or celebrities’ endorsements and wider user experience.

Soludo, in line with his commitment to be the Chief Marketing Officer of made-in-Anambra products, is already massively taking care of the association factor. He wears only Anambra made shoes as he travels around the world. This is rubbing off finely on sales. Now, Clem and his crack team will have to figure out how to take care of consumers’ experience and imagery concerns. Once done, they will be on a rollercoaster bringing foreign exchange and fame to Anambra and Nigeria.

Be of good cheer!!

I am glad that the outcry of well meaning Anambrarians including myself for this world class airport to be renamed after our amiable Governor has been heard and approved! Chief Willie Obiano International Airport Umueri it is!

Quietly waiting for our Ebonyi and Imo state brothers to surface and tell Anambra people that they cannot honor their governor by naming any state-government legacy project after him.

Meanwhile, they pretend not to know that David Nweze already named a University still under construction in Uburu after himself, and our Imo brothers will also forget that they named an airport after the Imo governor that initiated but did not complete the project.

Sometimes the hypocrisy and double standards exhibited by our brothers when it comes to Anambra annoy me. I say this because two of my Imo friends already protested against naming Anambra airport after Obiano. Thus, I reminded them that Chief Sam Mbakwe did not do as many projects as Obiano did, and did not even complete the Imo Airport. Yet, he had the honor of the facility named after him. Same as Gov Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom that only initiated but did not complete the Uyo airport. Of course, I have nothing against Gov Sam Mbakwe Or Gov David Umahi. But honor to whom honor is due is a great way to foster excellence and performance in government.

So just two of your Imo friends now equate to Imo people. There are over 5 million people in Imo state, two people cannot represent them. You can say your opinion without deliberately dragging our sister states as if they have beef with us. Anambra progress is a source of joy to all ndigbo irrespective of state of origin.

Ah....such well behaved kids!

We need more school trips like these to help spark their interest in many professions and fields of endeavour! One thing our states in the south-east should have is a state or regional science exhibition centre....a fun and engaging place where families and school kids can visit to get a hands-on experience of some of the things they learn about in class. The centre can have a astronomy section where they can marvel at the wonders of the universe and get to have a close-up look at the moon, planets and the milky-way and other galaxies through powerful rooftop mounted telescopes!

Exactly. The state should push for Science, Art and Cultural Museums with patronage by wealthy anambrarians. Nnewi would be a good home for an Automobile museum. There are a lot of cars, motorcycles old and new that can be displayed there for children and tourists to visit. Onitsha would be a good home for an Arts and cultural museum being the birthplace of Onitsha Market Literature and Nollywood showcasing Nigerian and Igbo art, sculpture, literature, music, and entertainment with the support of the Onitsha Royal Kingdom and Onitsha indigenes. Awka would be good for a Science Museum housed within the Kenneth Dike Library complex grounds.

This is where the ICC comes in. The operator of the ICC should investigate the viability of hosting a Footwear and Accessories trade exhibition in Anambra. If they can get enough exhibitors from global companies that want to sell into the Nigerian market, and local producers and attract enough buyers from across the region and country (since Anambra is just 45 minutes by flight from Lagos and Abuja and 2-3 hours from Port Harcourt, Enugu, Aba, Owerri, Benin) then it would be boost the state's profile and the ICC revenue. A successful trade exhibition should have at least 50-100 exhibitors and at least 5,000 attendees made up of large and small buyers.

For footwear and accessories, Nigeria is a large market with over 80 million adults and children living in urban areas. This is what any low-cost manufacturer will see and be attracted to attend this kind of trade show. But it requires a lot of marketing and smart experienced conference professionals.

These exhibitions would showcase the state and when the Anambra state government has its industrial layouts in place could stimulate visting companies to choose the state as a location for companies setting up factories for production.

There is also a Space Research Centre at Nsukka owned by the Federal Government, the center also welcome science students from secondary schools on excursions.

A sharp businessman should have a mall located either at Amawbia Zik avenue axis or along Enugukwu axis...to serve pple from Amawbia, nawfia,Enugukwu,Abagana and beyond.

Rather everyone wants to site a mall at Awka...rowdy Awka filled with rampaging devil incarnated cultists? angry

It is better to have many more malls so that Eke Awka can die a natural death and that site will be cleared and cleaned up for a public green park.

A single mall is not meant for the entire state rather for the town or city it is in. Each city with its own mall. Awka mall is meant to serve the city. Why would someone travel all the way from Abagana only just to use a mall at Amawbia

Does it make sense to you?

I cant believe an adult can say this! A mall is not a government office that can be sited anywhere!!! A mall is for profit and is privately owned, the owner will situate his business in a place for boom profit not brunt loss!!! An advice for you! The fact that Eko Intl. Conference center was attached to Eko Hotels and Suites is the reason it has survived and remained well-maintained to date.

Prof Soludo must not allow the Awka ICC edifice to rot away by not attaching its management to a 4 - 5 star hotel to diligently maintain it in a pristine state always. A 4 - star hotel with a similar capacity as Eko hotels & Suites inside the Awka International Conference arena is needed to oversee the daily maintenance of the edifice. Else, it will fall into disrepair within one or two years.
