The west will encounter difficulties in seeking new business partners. Just recently USA approached Venezuela one of their sanctioned countries for oil. Think about it, isn't that going to give the estranged country an upper hand? Also Venezuela is a Russia ally, indirectly they are still doing business with Russia as the country has oil reserves in Venezuela.

I believe the Russian Economists were muted as well... If not, they would have explained to the citizens what is coming...

They will start feeling the impacts of these sanctions in a year or two years to come... it's not dawned on them yet..

I think it has dawned on them but the thing is there are still other countries doing business with Russia. Also, local companies are going to have the immediate needs of the citizens met and Russia is self sufficient enough to produce the basics for her citizens.

Where will Putin get money to sustain Russian troops remaining in Ukraine for the next 6 months, Russia Economy is crippled, their Russian ruble is now worthless than toilet paper, that's why almighty Russian is now asking china for military assistance and financial assistance, which the United States has threatened China with sanctions if China try to offer any assistance to Russia
China cherish it's Economy than Russia, China can not afford any sanctions from the United States or European Union who are China top biggest trading partners.
Any major sanctions from United States and European Union on China will cripple and Bury the Chinese Economy even faster than the Russian Economy.
China will not want to go that route to jeopardize their own Economy over a relationship with Russia

but shell is still buying russian oil. Nord stream 1 is still running. Continue listening to western media

Putin is dragging a whole country down because of blind and somewhat personal vendetta against Ukraine or Ukraine president.

So much for a President that his Ministers are at arm's length and almost everyone is afraid to say the truth. Is that one a democracy again. Putin runs Russia like a personal estate, being a President for a decade or more. So-called Oligarchs are said to be his frontmen for running his businesses all over the world. You wonder why Oligarchs' businesses are being sanctioned everywhere if not that those businesses are principally owned by Putin as a major stakeholder in them. Just a single man.

Yet, it is Ukraine's President who refuses to submit that's the problem.

Nigeria is a country with over 200m people, poor infrastructures, poor education, poor medical services, etc. We have less than $40bn in foreign reserve, yet people are still breathing and living their lives well. The country has not totally collapsed yet. Things would definitely get a bit rough for the Russians but definitely not the way you all are making it sound.

Is Russia really a democratic country?... Sometimes we need to double-check it again to be sure.... Because it sounds like a country ruled by the military...

Is the citizens actually in support of what is going on... All the travel ban imposed on them by most countries, freezing of international accounts/closing of corporation... social media etc... Do they really like that?....

If they don't like it and the country is truly a democratic country, what is stopping them from speaking up to defend their country from economic/ financial collapse.. Just wondering..

There is no democracy in Russia. They have a dictatorial government. Putin is supposed to be in power for 6 yrs but had now ammended their constitution in In mid-January. He submitted proposals for amendments to the constitution and formed a working group to refine the legislation. On March 10, a Russian Duma deputy proposed an amendment that would reset Putin’s presidential term limit clock to zero. A move that would allow him to run for office in 2024 and 2030, and potentially remain in office through 2036. Within a week, Russia’s parliament and regional governments ratified the amendments and the Constitutional Court approved the changes. The popular referendum is now the next step.

Putin is doing everything to coerce and intimidate everyone to do his bidding and to enable him remain in power till 2036 (if he would still be alive by then)
