Insurance products are hard to sell. Nigerians would rather cover their cars with the Blood of Jesus. They don’t buy insurance products, they don’t believe they can be indemnified.

How you intend to handle a populace like this is beyond me.

If it is a big and known restaurant, I would go for it. Hospitality is a good career path with not much competition. If you are diligent, you can easily use the experience to work in bigger hotels or restaurants. Marriot is currently recruiting and as juicy as their offer looks, anyone without experience in the hospitality industry would be wasting his/her time.
this here. two of my colleagues had their cars totaled in accidents. i was like - well insurance sorted you and they were like - no they did not insure their cars

i was looking for how to renew my old insurabnce plan using company rates. a friend told me - why are you even bothered - health insurance is a scam. i know this doctor, he can sort any issue. a fully educated guy. was talking like this undecided

Good morning Nairaland.

Please I need your advice right now.

Last year I got a job in an insurance company through an outsourcing firm, Although the company is doing well but the pay is low(below 100k).
Recently, I applied for a job online and later found out is a position of a RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT TRAINEE.
Should I let go of my current job and go with the new one? Or I continue with my job and forfirt the new one?

However, my current job is in Lagos and the stress is much so I thought to get a new job outside Lagos because life here in Lagos is crazy with traffic.

Please kindly advise a brother before taking a wrong decision.

Regards.
Both needs a lot of effort.

Choose wisely

Just mentioning the word RESTAURANT should be enough for you to take decision.

I didn't even read all other things you wrote there, but just thinking of how many street girls you'll be lashing by bringing home those leftovers is for me a deal cutter!

Omoo, it is better to stick to your insurance job. There is growth in that sector if you are focused and determined.

Back in the days, I used to know some insurance big players. They were well off.

Both of them is good but you can build a career in insurance and with the commission I think it's better. Life is a risk.

This is what I always advise, look for jobs that you learn something valuable that can lead to self employment.
Working as a management trainee would enable you understand the nitty gritty of restaurant management. If you decide to leave say, after 5yrs you can easily manage your own and possibly become a Mr Biggs

But if you continue with the insurance brokerage, you may end up being thrown out as a contract staff. Also the job won't lead to self employment as you know what it takes to have an insurance firm.
