Laca is dragging Fabinho and vvd out due to their highline. It's Opening up space. If we got quick foot guys, we for don dey lead.

Gabriel picking out Nelli direct doesn't look like Arteta's plan. It's personal.

These guys aren't even taking advantage of the Nelli availability. This assisting wingers with bodies is one aspect that keeps playing out poorly vs Liverpool. We'll get there.

It's like he knew Arteta would find it hard to attempt adapting so he brought on Salah. Smh.

Coaches like Klopp and Tuchel are some of the best in game tacticians in the EPL. A totally different half from the first, no way Arteta did not see that coming.

Good game from the lads
This is one of arteta vices he can't read game and he won't improve if he doesn't change.
This shouldn't derail our focus though

Why? That ball supposed enter Odegaard Na sad
Should Lacazette be squaring that ball in the first place? He is the top striker yet he is more interested in giving an assist than having a shot at goal?
If Laca has the goal in focus as Martinelli does we won't be debating whether he should have an extension.

Arteta should really reduce his playing time and give opportunity to others in that role please.

I think this is his weakness. He can't change a game from the bench. He usually plans well before the match but has poor in-game management ability

Or maybe it's a case of manpower. It's just not equal. Partey was burdened and not as free as Xhaka to make key final passes. Noticed anytime the long balls reach nelli, no one is making a run throughout the second half. He's the best arsenal player tonight. The far better team xi won.

Outclassed!!

Even if he wants to be a false 9, that's not the pattern I am seeing we are playing

if this info keeps getting spread around tactician in the game, managers with average teams but better tactics will just be beating arsenal. I hope this is different when a solid bench exists though.

Didn't expect any favourable result from it, but the boys did their best. Respect to Klopp.

Up Next is Aston Villa.

Spurs and WestHam are 3points away from us. They meet by weekend. Time to further Capitalize.

Naaaa. I don’t think it’s a case of manpower and here is why. We totally stayed with and matched them and could easily have taken the lead in the first. Klopp being experienced went into his locker room and tweaked a ton of his possession tactics. Moved some of his players around and made some intelligent sub. Because we lacked the ability to counter the tweaks or adjust to the tweaks we looked like a totally different team in the 2nd.

A proof of the tactical dominance in the 2nd is buttressed by the fact that both goals were 8 minutes apart from each other with the first goal coming 9 minutes into the 2nd half. That tells you everything you need to know about our inability to adapt. We needed to hold ace at the start of the 2nd but we went into the 2nd playing like nothing changed for Liverpool.

Remember during the week I expressed concern about City winning and how much pressure that out on Kloop to win? Well.. I guess we now see. I would tell you though, I was proud of the first half performance. I just wish we were more proactive in anticipating tactical changes in the 2nd.

To come add salt to wound… Spuds come win! I mean, there goes 1 of the games in hand.

We move! The boys need to keep their spirits up!

It’s not even about the bench for me, it’s his reaction to tactical changes immediately they occur. You can see from the start of the 2nd that Liverpool we’re playing a totally different tactic. If you take a look from an above the head camera, you could see their lines had changed and the triangle they were playing was different when they had the ball.

They scored 9 minutes after the 2nd half scored and scored 8 minutes afterwards, what does that tell you? In the 1st half we were using long balls to by pass the midfield which caught their defense, especially their full backs unaware because they were pressing high. What does Klopp do? He drops the line while pushing his midfielders deeper into our half and you can them ripping us apart with those passes when they had the ball. I can go on and on!

I love the spirit of this team though and that is a big credit to Arteta but these games in hand need to count for something, else we will be out of that race.

The Arsenal I saw has improved greatly I must say, but that bad/hard luck thing is still with the club and thats why i can't invest my emotions at least for now in this club.

For me, Arsenal are two very good players away from being a regular top4 team.
Xhaka has to go, maybe a Nabil Fekir or Douglas Costa can Come in and a striker who is deadly on goal as Laca's style can't bail you out a whole season. Reason you see Klopp shuffle Firminho and Jota.

Lastly, I won't be surprised to see Arsenal bottle the 4th position. Apart from it being typical of the club, I reiterate the club goofed by not bringing in at least 2 bodies in January, You'll notice Saka,Laca and some players looked fatigued, you can not be relying and playing same first 11 consecutively.

Fielding this tired 11 against Villa on Sunday too makes the game 50/50. Well, good luck to the gunners.

Not bringing in a CF in January might work against us, I would have removed saka and odegaard immediately at the start of the second half.

I was impressed with the lads ystdy night. The showing was more different and exciting than the previous encounters we had with Liverpool. While I was expecting to lose(sadly), I was just waiting to see our performance ystdy knowing how we always badly played against Liverpool before now.

The greatest thing I know that made us lose this game was lacazette lack of movement upfront. Aside the chance which he passed up to odegaard — not that it was wrong tho because we for no dey talk about the chance if odegaard scored. But aside that, it is crazy for a striker not to capitalize on any of those martinelli chances he created when he was tormenting Arnold. The big difference between Laca and firmino ystdy was that while firmino made a move to ensure he scored that goal, laca was waiting at a unfavorable spot expecting the ball to meet him(esp that chance that martinelli nutmegged Henderson). Laca tried especially in his physical duels to ensure we maintained possession but games like these needs that little extra and that's where he's failing — and it's also one of the big reasons we'll rarely beat the top 2. But then it's a good thing we're closing the gap.

Ystdy I keenly wanted to watch partey to know if he'll turn up against a big team with the way his performances have been this year and I'm glad he did. I was excited to see how he beat Liverpool's press with many one touch pass and made so many good decisions. Odegaard tried ystdy(tho not to his standard) but he really should have scored that goal. When a team Misses such goals against a big team, they're duly punished and it's no surprising we conceded few minutes after missing that goal. With the way the midfield is setup, we just need an excellent midfielder to take over Xhaka spot and we'll compete even more favorably with the big guns

Saka(to me) had a below par game by his standard surprisingly. Not too bad but not too good the way I expected from him. I know it might be a bit difficult for him seeing his two markers where mostly Robertson and Vvd but maybe I expected more in terms of drive.

I'm not to fussed about this game, after all I expected to lose embarassed, but I just hope we'll be able to get something out from our remaining two outstandings(even tho they're away games). The boys shouldn't allow this to weigh them down and they should be proud of their performance ystdy.

Lastly the future of this club depends on the success of the forthcoming summer transfer window. We need a taller clinical striker that can work effectively with the wingers and midfielders(someone like a van Persie) and a very good midfielder to replace Xhaka.

We hope to win against Aston Villa and get the three points!!

Coyg!!

Hmmm..
I agree saka is really tired but who we wan bench am for? I'm not too impressed with pepe.
Bench odegaard?? Abeg no think am. I don't think odegaard is tired, na just Liverpool too good.
Lacazette? Maybe nketiah, but then he's not giving that outstanding performances we would wanna see in games..
Remember na Aston Villa we dey play and we'll need our best players cos Aston Villa no be anyhow team.
It's just so sad that our squad is thin and we can't even trust our 2nd eleven in attack except smith Rowe

I'm impressed with xhaka esp this his new role. Me I think I just they wait for end of season to give him full praise cos to me I dey see Xhaka as a ticking time bomb. He might give you 5 good performances but that one performance his brain will touch will even be greater than that his good performances. So it's just a way I'm guarding my expectations tbh grin

But he's been great recently

It took Loserpool to make everybody see Lacazette is shiiit when he’s not passing to everybody . cool

As regards Saka’s below par performance , he was marked out by Robertson and Van Djik . I think it’s a tactical play from Klopp which enabled Martinelli to operate freely on the other flank . Xhaka didn’t make any visible error yesterday ,but his constant refusal to take initiative and open up some spaces limited our attacking play on Martinelli’s side of the pitch.

All in all Loserpool was a superior opponent and they took their chances when we didn’t do justice to ours. I hope we will bounce back against Villa tho
