OFFICIAL336: I’m not very good in Economics and all that but what I think is the South West states are given more loans just cause they have the ability to pay back (the IGR like you stated). Take for example, if the bank wants to borrow you money, they check your financial history and your ability to pay back. In conclusion, you may be wrong about SW states being overrated. 6 Likes |

OFFICIAL336: Their Son yemi is in charge of NBS, so you shouldn't be surprised by his lop-sided IGR statistics to favour his poverty plagued region.... If u ever step your feet into core yoruba-land you will be shocked at the hight of their advanced backwardness and primitivity. Afonja bubonic rats are still stucked in stone age. The 'emergence' of the internet and other tribes venturing into media and journalism, gave a dirty blow to their propaganda and lies they have been propogating for decades. 6 Likes 1 Share |

BSdetective: Afonja bubonic E-rat with their stupid senile opinions as usual... U have what it takes to repay the loans and yet there is an outrageous growth in your debt stocks...lol South east isn't economically viable and yet only rivers, Anambra and lagos' being a melting point for all ethnic groups can fund it own budget successfully. 5 Likes |

Mooh247:Yes, by your logic, the entire gross earning should be used to service debt and not fix infrastructure (capital expenditure) and salaries recurrent expenditure? Lagos is not doing well if you compare debt to income. If Lagos generates ₦460 billion from taxes (LIRS) collects all income for LASG. Salaries alone for Civil servants is about ₦10 billion a month. Political appointees gets paid, Alphabeta, takes their share etc. At the end of a fiscal year, Lagos State will not break even, that is why they have to still borrow and now owe close to ₦1trillion. What Lagos is earning in a fiscal year is less than what they spend 3 Likes |

Anyway that is not the argument. Why is SW heavily indebted despite claiming to generate the highest IGR 5 Likes |

tartar9:You can't be leading in IGR and yet heavily indebted. It's not possible SW is still the most undeveloped part of the South if you remove Lagos. So where are the money going into? Check US debt profile and compare with SW's. Do you know some of those debts are intergovernmental transfer and another chunk are in private hands? SW debts are mostly external. You generate the highest IGR You are the most Indebted You received the highest FG bailout fund You lead in the list of the most vulnerable households SW has the ugliest villages in the South Yorubas live in the worst houses SW has as much bad roads as other region in the South SW is the only region in the South without a single state funded airport So what are you doing with all those IGR and debts? 4 Likes 1 Share |
