The United Arab Emirates, abbreviated as UAE, is a country in the Middle East that is sandwiched between Saudi Arabia and Oman. The oil-rich country has progressed from Bedouin tribes to one of the wealthiest countries in the world, with infrastructural masterpieces and tonnes of Guinness Book of Records feats, as well as rapid and steady growth in the economy, science, and technology, all in only 50 years! Isn't it impressive?

Here are ten amazing and fascinating facts about the United Arab Emirates that you probably didn't know.

1. The UAE has the highest net migration rate in the world. According to World Bank estimates, the UAE's population in 2020 was 9,890,400, with immigrants accounting for 88.52 per cent of the total, with the major nationalities being Indian (25%), Pakistani (12%), Emirati (9%), Bangladeshi (7%), and Filipino (5%), while Emirati account for the remaining 11.48 %, making the national population a minority.

2. The E 11 Highway is the UAE's longest highway, stretching 558.4 km (347.0 mi) and connecting six major cities including Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain. The highway's construction began in 1971 and was completed in 1980.

3. Dubai police officers drive Lamborghinis. Yes, you read that correctly! The Dubai police force has one of the most exotic car fleets in the world - and they use them as patrol cars! Among the vehicles in the collection are the Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, BMW i8, Ford Mustang, Audi R8 V10, McLaren MP4-12C, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, Ghiath Beast Patrol SUV, and Tesla Cybertruck.
