The issue is this, complete 30 tons can only be delivered by a trailer, most atimes, accessibility to sites is usually an issue considering turning radius and the strength of the soil to be able to allow a trailer to deliver.
So what those vendors do is they promise you 30tons and end up coming with 25-27 tons knowing fully well that a trailer can't access your site. So they come with a double axle truck. That way they make extra profit.

If you really want to know about this, request for waybill before they offload the material at your site.

The waybill usually contains information like
Quantity of material in tons or kg
Size/grade of material
Number plate of the vehicle
Time of departure from the company.
Note: this is if you are buying direct from the company.

Hello people on the forum. I started earlier this year 6 blocks of 2 and 3 bedrooms. I hired an architect. Did the drawing. Paid all necessary dues to authorities and I kicked off. I have met some challenges but it's going. I am not the type that put myself out their so much or post what I am doing but I think I will at this stage because I am confused.

I will start with a couple of pictures.

NB : I do not live in Nigeria and My relatives are handling the project while I pay the builder who happens to be an architect with experience. We agreed on all labour cost.

I contacted a guy named Arinze (from nairaland) for bill of quantities but in 2021. At the moment the bill of quantities just looks like its not useful. Because a lot doesn't align with what the builder mentioned.

Please help me ask the brother, let's assume he makes $180,000 per year, out of that amount after paying his mortgage, car insurance, utility bills, health insurance, gas per weekly, food and all unforeseen bills, like parking tickets, or even traffic moving velation. I purposely don't include income tax which an average of 18% of your take home weekly or by weekly. How much did he take home at the end of the year? Egun is here with many living wetness. I laugh in Spanish, I don't even what to talk of fuel that raise form $45 per week to $68x4 in my state. Again how many people even make that much? Average USA median household income as of 2019 is 68,703 which many of these families in many states in USA qualified for government assistance. These numbers represent 70% of Americans. I forgot to mention that the federal law require you to pay 30% of your income as your annual rent. Please tell me how much is left after all those deductions? I rest my case.

The point you raise is tangential to what the issue at hand is about. The point being discussed here is fair labour or fair trade as regards to those with more resources ( countries, individuals, cooperations, entities) dealing with others in those regions with less resources and capital. This is the context of the discussion.
I am not interested in comparing living standards between myself in the US with those in Nigeria. Such discussion is seen as bragging in this forum.
There is a reason why someone would not want to buy coffee from a particular brand, due to how much the company pays for the coffe beans from poor farmers
There are people who would never wear a particular brand of cloth or shoes due to how much the company pays its poor factory workers overseas .

Works of organization like international Fairtrade is to ensure that globally, people are paid fair amount for their products because there is disparities in begaining power between the rich and poor. This is comparable to the rich clients/ poor laborers relationship in Nigeria.

Everything is not about economics. We grow by lifting others. And except you own a boot, you cannot pull yourself up by the bootstraps.

Anyone who conceives the thought of free labor from poor laborers and artisans is sick in the mind.

Na so . The extra money will only empower majority of them to stake more in gambling (baba ijebu), buy more beer and spend more on ladies. It's what I experienced when I decided to be paying everyone working in my site 1k per day, for feeding.
Many of them are not really what we perceive them to be.
