This is to show that Nigerians are the best speakers and users of the English language in Africa and other parts of the world. The Kenyan guy and many others might not even notice the mistakes you pointed out. This means that our mistakes surpass their understanding.
We are deeply rooted in the English language in Nigeria but we are not counted as an English speaking country. Only South Africa is recognised as an English speaking country in Africa. But why? Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, etc. were all colonised by the British. Why are we not recognised? Is this not a double standard?
is there a link that discusses this?
Please send.

Ghanaian English accent sounds like Nigerian.

BTW, the BBC gave Nigeria's English accent the best in the world for decades.

PS: The English accent in northern Nigeria is different from that in the south.

Dear Kenyan citizen,
We have a lot to worry about here. Smart English is not one of them. It's smart governance. By the way our eastern region's greatest worry is that they want you to explain how Nnamdi Kanu was renditioned back to Nigeria without your smart English speaking government knowing about it

3. The last line, after Nigeria, deserves a period.

I can't believe that mumu Kenyan tried to mock us.....I was watching a Kenyan movie sometime ago and I struggled to understand what they were saying. If you don't attentively you won't even know they're speaking English. It sounded like vernacular, very annoying and primitive accent.

Even their dressing is old school. Villagers in Nigeria got a better dress sense than the so-called civilized Kenyans.

I want to learn this transcribing of a skill. I speak Chinese and can read it (mostly not the characters, lol...just the Pinyin)
Some weeks back, a girl said she would teach me but she ended up ignoring me, as if she didn't want me to learn it and maybe surpass her. Cuz I can't see any other reason why she just stopped answering when I brought up the transcribing thing, which is what she does since strike has affected her. She says she makes like 15-20k in a week or more. Depends on how fast she completes one task.

Let me answer this question.
There seems to be a lot of confusion around the term native speaker.

One can understand why.

Native means born, and nobody is born speaking a language.

So what does native speaker mean?

It means simply that English was the first language you learned to speak, the language you learned from your mother or your caretaker when you were an infant.

Most Nigerians are not native speakers of English.

Most Nigerians speak English as a second language.

That doesn't mean that they don't speak English with native-like fluency.

Since they were probably educated in English, they may well speak, read, and write in English better than in their native language.

Nevertheless, unless English was the first language you learned to speak, English is not your native language.

If you know the meaning of the above words then you have lived or schooled with/amongst Kenyan nationals. With their funny accent when it comes to speaking in english.
But, they still have those amongst them who speak fluently. They just have to be the more exposed ones, wo probably grew up in Nairobi.

I understand what it means to be a native speaker of a language. South Africans are not also native speakers of the English language but they are classified as native speakers. That is the double standard that I'm talking about.
