1.Lent a lot of money and equipment to the UK and USSR during world war 2. (read Lend-Lease)...which were very useful in defeating the Germans and their allies.

Rubles fell to as low as 135 to the dollar after NATO imposed sanctions before stabilizing at 84 after Russia declared that rude customers will pay for gas in rubles henceforth.

The ruble will get more expensive by the time Russia starts demanding payment.

It makes no difference. Whether aid or loan, Ukraine is going to pay back. Or you think those weapons given to Ukraine as "aid" are free?

"Aid" here means the politics that would have slowed down the sales would be sped up and Ukraine would get it from reserve stocks (held by the US government), rather than waiting for the companies to begin manufacturing them from scratch.

It would have paid a deposit for the weapons (if not everything).
