It's predatory. No one fights anyone's war. Every time you see a country deploying troops to fight side-by-side with another country, be rest assured that there is a lot of money/mineral resources at stake.

Several African countries gave Russia mining rights in exchange for Russian soldiers and contractors (Wagner Group) fighting for them. Assad of Syria also gave Russia oil rights too in exchange for Russian troops and contractors on the ground.

France has its troops in several West and Central African nations since it controls their money, oil, and other mineral resources and it is in the best interest that pro-French governments remain in power.

US became a world power by selling weapons to the Allies during WWI and WWII in exchange for gold and then entering the wars late when it's already obvious that the enemy cannot win anymore. After the war, it stopped backing its money with gold so that it won't return most of that gold.

International politics is insane and very predatory. Even your so-called friends will snitch and stab your back if you're not paying attention.
