To answer your question, that's not the definition. The concept of fasting transcends ingesting food or otherwise. Just like you referenced, if someone like you can take meal at 4am and be okay for the rest of the day, then what is it really all about. Lots of folks are good like that too.

Fasting is all about belief, niyah - intention and the desire to obey the Lord's command.

And that's a crucial part of faith.

In addition to the reply you got, it takes a disciplined mind to consciously stay away from water and snacks till sunset. Many people eat during day, but this time, every Muslim must abstain from food and water.

Very true. But fasting is beyond just abstaining from food. It also entails refraining from vain speech (especially slanderous speech or backbiting), refraining from looking at forbidden things, refraining from typing what is forbidden (online trolling or insults)

The Prophet of Allah is reported to have said: 'If one does not abandon falsehood in words and deeds, Allah has no need for his abandoning of his food and drink

Tuwon Shinkafa with Miyan kuka, and a cup of Black tea.

Taking milk makes me thirsty. As Ramadan goes on, I find it easier to go on if I take only pap or water, then heavy food once in a while.

Taqaballahu minna wa minkum.

Thanks for the reminders. Also, it pays to ignore these online trolls because the attention is what they want.

Besides, it's easy to avoid eating and drinking consciously for a day or two. Doing the same for 29 or 30 consecutive days though, that's where you get tested because it can be challenging.
