It is dumb to argue against the creation of a 5th southeast state based on landmass alone. Those screaming that Niger is bigger than the southeast are thoughtless idiots.

Creating states should be based on population and not land mass. The question should be whether there is adequate representation based on the population of the people from the southeast.

A better argument against creating a 6th state is viability. I don't think a 5th state in the southeast will be viable based on the current economic output of the region. It will only lead the thinning of federal allocation to the other states and more avenue for wastage and thieving.

If the Igbos actually spend more time directing their industriousness and hustling nature into building their homes and developing many economic options for their people instead of sending money to abroad-based terrorists to disrupt their own land and kill their own elite in the name of secession, they would probably be in a better position to argue for the urgency of a 6th state.

That's what I have been telling our Igbo brother to pursue, but no they are looking for shortcut to presidency.

Seriously, Igbo needs the 6th state more than any other thing and it would be a plus for entire South if one state can be added and one removed from NW while 2capital should be created one in the north and one in the South.

But the South are too myopic and emotional to even understand what is good for them.

As it is, there would never be any pro South bill that would scale through Nass. We can all see the way PIA was watered down thereby making ways for some northern state to benefit from it because without South allowing such longer-throat, the Bill would have been killed like the previous ones

No offence intended, but this has to be the stupidest comment yet, on this thread!

Create two capital cities in one Nigeria? Is it that some of you basically have zero knowledge of societal economics cum political implications of some of the prescriptions you lay down on the wellbeing of the general populace? With just one capital city, we're still battling the detrimental effects of an ambiguous political system and one ignoramus is suggesting the addition of another.

I'm a South Southerner, but for God's sake, where is the land space where the sixth Eastern state is to be cut from? Abi una wan annex lands from other regions join with the East just to placate your delusions for an extra state? Instead of you folks to be ullulating the call for restructuring, una dey yan dust about extra state.

I may never come around to understanding how some Nigerians reason. Ekweramadu should be ashamed of himself for following this thought process.

Nigeria with 36states cant still be properly managed and maintained and u want to add another one.. The problem of this country is not the creation of states but that we don't value ourselves, ethnicity, religion, corruption are the problem we show try to face. U want to create a state that would join the other ones that can strive on their own if fed allocations do not come... If Lagos, rivers and Anambra should say they want to stand alone it for the others to keep clinging to the feet of the federal government for daily bread. When there is no development in ur state there can never be personal enjoy.

People are a reflection of their leaders. Apart from Anambra who produce capable leaders like Peter Obi and i believe Soludo is one as well from early signs and is past as CBN governor,as well as David Umuahi, the east as the worst governors among the 3 major tribes in Nigeria.

This is the most foolish question anyone has ever asked here. Igbos are the third largest subgroup in Nigeria after the Hausa-Fulani and the Yorubas.

Your question is implying that Niger state has more population than the whole of the southeast and that is moronic. Landmass doesn't equate population.

These useless Biafra people that can't even manage 5 states, now they want more states so they can collect more federal allocation which comes from the resources of the Niger Delta.
These Biafra people contribute absolutely nothing to the economy of Nigeria but they want everything, they want to be president, they want more states, they even want Biafra.
Please give the idiots their DOT NATION so we can use our resources for better things.
Useless parasites, everyday they want this, want that but they contribute only armed robbery to Nigeria.

It is not by land but viability

Lagos state is the smallest by size and more that 25% of Nigeria's economy when you factor in the upcoming Lekki port and Free Trade zone , Dangote refinery and fertilizer plant it will soon be 50%

The issue with regard to state creation centre on representation at the National Assembly and consequently the capacity to make laws, to veto laws and to change the constitution
As things stand it is not clear on what basis states were created..

Land mass is not an issue
The issues are

Population and economic viability as well as protection of minorities
