I call it SIMPing. Giving her your name must be your number one goal after "purchasing her" from her people via the bride price. It is named bride PRICE for a reason. Keep your idealism out of my mention and face reality! |

So?!! That can never be a big deal! Why should anyone be put through the rigors of change of name?!! That means going through the entire process all over again in the event of a divorce! |

Told my wife to keep her maiden name, madam no gree lol She doesn't want to sound odd when the names of each member of the family is being called. Imagine father and children bearing same surname, only for mother to be bearing something different like a nanny. ![]() |

It's just a name, it means absolutely nothing........ What does changing her maiden name, add to the equation..... Absolutely nothing ........ |

Romanoff:Yeah. I think the only advantage is the elimination of the stress and complexity that comes with changing names. Other than that, I think retaining the maiden name kinda screams individuality, as against oneness. I also wouldn't want to bear a different name from the LOML, and my kids. Let's all be one. |
| Re: Women Retaining Their Maiden Names by Nobody: 4:39pm On Apr 05, 2022 |
a woman who wants to retain her maiden name is not ready to marry and should stay in her father's house. I saw a comment about retaining her fathers name if he is a prominent person, again stay in your father's house!!! |
| Re: Women Retaining Their Maiden Names by Angelfrost(m): 4:40pm On Apr 05, 2022 |
Kobojunkie:Yes sir... Tradition has limits! A lot of couples decide to forego that. Most do it more out of impulse than tradition. Some just bear the name in word, but check their official documents, social media handles, etc, it remains the same even after a decade of blissful union! It is down to a couple's decision and choice or what works for them!!! |

Kobojunkiee:Not in my house. My great sisters dropped our name once they got married and we are not expecting them back to pick it. The least among them is a director of health in an FMC. Say whatever you like , it is our family tradition as long as they don’t start trouble foolishly . Feminism and all round gender equality should go to blazes . Ask your wife who dragged the father’s name to your house if the mum did same. There won’t be issues with me and my wife as long she uses one at a time. Either use your father’s name or mine. Combining them like is indecent to me. As prominent as the family of my mother in-law's family is , she dropped it and got serious with her marriage. Daughters of nobodies are everywhere dragging along the names of their no-do-well fathers , claiming woke |

Lightorder:As you already stated, some of you bow to traditions which you foolishly adhere to against logic, so there is always that to contend with. ![]() |
