Arteta was nullified.

Should’ve done better. The workload was too much for partey.

I don't think it was. I've seen Partey beat press even more deadly than tonight's own. I still feel it's travel fatigue due to the international break. When Partey can't give forward pass, can't move, struggle to coordinate the ball, then this is more than workload. It's just him being off-form.

Congrats to Crystal palace tho, they deserved their win and their game plan was perfect

Remember early season when I said midfield is the heart of a successful team
But guys here will think it's defense, recently spy360 asked me if our midfield is now good
I told him it's okay if we are fighting for 4 to 6 position
At the moment if partey is really injured then the top6 might just die off.
Even if we have vvd and koulibally yesterday we go still collect wotowoto grin grin
It took a fatigue midfield to expose the clown inside Gabriel

I have said it before. The day I'll get worried is the day our midfield is dominated and chances aren't coming. Today was one of such days.

Odegaard played nonsense. Aside today being his offday and giving erratic passes and not being creative, he naively caused a Pk wen everyone knew that's what Zaha wanted.

Partey today was no where to be found. His passes erratic, his distribution poor and he couldn't even run. The duo of Partey and Odegaard being off-form scattered any hope we had from winning this match as our attackers were feeding off scraps in the first half.
Fatigue certainly, but it was costly today.

Lacazette have been shit for the last 3 weekend matches. It seems Watford and pre-watford matches have been a long time. Opportunity for Nketiah to grab, but he still haven't scored a goal. Hmmm

I won't blame Saka and ESR, they were mostly denied service from our midfield. The time our midfield woke up, it was too late as we were two goals down. Martinelli brought life to that attack too, but was silent as he moved to the other wing

Tavarez might just seal his fate if things don't work out well.

Hopefully, the boys become refreshed again during the weekend. I just hope they don't mull over this loss

Coyg!!!
For the penalty, Odegaard is the last person I will for it. There was Partey who gave the ball away in midfield thereby releasing Zaha to get a go at our defence....Then Gabriel failed to deal decisively with Zaha that had the ball his feet, instead he allowed himself to be bypassed like a training cone. Gabriel could've fouled Zaha long outside the box and would've taken a yellow for the team to keep the scoreline respectful at least but he didn't. Odegaard had to intervene after Gabriel had failed to deal with the situation decisively.

As regards Odegaard giving away the penalty, I think the coaching crew needs to work well with our players on how to mark opponents without giving out fouls unnecessarily. Almost all our players are guilty of not knowing how to win the ball from opponents without being penalised. I've Saka, Martinelli, Gabriel, Partey, General Xhaka and almost all the team giving out fouls they could've avoided if they could just keep eyes on the ball and take it off opponents' feet without getting entangled with them. Just like we've worked on conceding goals through corners and set pieces, I think this is also doable.

While we can attribute Partey's poor performance yesternight to Fatigue from international duty, we can't also take away the fact that Viera had a well detailed game plan his boy carried out to the letter which is largely responsible for palace's victory.

They had us where the want us. They knew the importance of Partey to the team and so Gallagher was always on Partey ; those usual switch of play we know Partey for were practically non existence cos Gallagher was always breathing down his neck. Maybe if someone like Xhaka were to be a more adventurous midfielder or more brilliant midfielder things could've been different and we might have been able to do things better.

Mitchell and Zaha gave Cedric a really busy night on the right side of our defence thereby limiting the amount of Saka could receive, tye few balls that got to Saka were either over hit, passes laid behind his back which he had to struggle to retrieve or balls that were perfect but he seem not to be able to hold on to....Maybe it's cos of the COVID-19 he had recently sha.

All in all, I think Palace deserved the victory. They didn't mind conceding possession to us, they had us where they wanted and the rest was history.

Lol, I've always known it that the midfield was our key especially in this our impressive runs reason why I believe dem Saka, Martinelli and Smith Rowe will always see chances and goals to score. Lacazette don even comot for my equation cos he's been horrible post Watford match.

Yesterday's midfield exposed even our defence as they were not even composed on the ball. White and Gabriel just dey balloon ball go anywhere when they should have calmed down and look for a pass. Even Gabriel short of confidence was even more heightened cos of Tavarez that was jittery ystdy.

It was just a bad day for our boys all round

While I agree about him being the last person for being at fault for the Pk but my anger was the naivety to be honest. When Gabriel allowed Zaha to run through without fouling him I was mad but I knew it can still be salvageable. Arsenal players have already surrounded Zaha in the box all wary that he's expecting a contact but they never came close to him as their eyes was just fixated on the ball — except Odegaard.
That was just my anger Tbh which was falling for the Zaha trap. He did same thing against Man u too immediately after his equaliser.
It means that if a player is looking for penalty and Odegaard is within the vicinity, then a penalty is sure cos he'll definitely fall for the trap

I just hope the coaching crew works on them especially him. I think we've conceded 3 penalties this season and 2 is from him while the last one was Xhaka foolishness against Man city.

Yeah, I'm not taking away anything from Palace game plan, it worked perfectly (esp Connor on Partey), but I think what really aided it was Partey not coming to Party ystdy.
It was same here I analysed how Klopp put Jota to Man Mark Partey when we want to pass from the back and Henderson on him when we're transition from our midfield. The difference between that Partey and this was that Partey of Liverpool was able to beat the press with one-touch pass, body feinting and dribbling. His passes was also very very accurate. But yesterday own eh, I no even sure Partey even attempted any dribbles, most of his passes were way off and inacurate and worst of all even his partner in creativity (Odegaard) was soooo off. In fact, nothing seem to come off for Partey and Odegaard ystdy

It's no wonder our defence became jittery and attack became dull and isolated cos even ystdy press no reach the one Liverpool or man city gave us this year yet our midfield still came through

They simply choke Partey and those he could pass to out of the game. His fatigue was visible but Palace plans worked really well too. Without Partey being fatigued we would still have lost that match yesterday. Those guys simply overwhelmed us from kickoff.

Even the commentator said that Nketiah has been more threatening in 10mins than Lacazette the whole game.

You are making fun of hitting the bar? Do you realise the technique he used to pick that shot? How many shots did Laca attempt self?

Honestly, Arteta will be pondering on dropping Lacazette soon. The earlier he does this the better our chances. I have said this before.

By calling out the midfield you missed your entire point.

The whole team looked jaded. The whole team looked weak. The whole team looked disjointed. The whole team looked fatigued.

Was it their training regime? Was it the international break? There are more questions than answers.

The best thing is to move on, because this midfield agenda will not work here.

Forget about agenda, I no dey come here do agenda.

The question is, was our midfield dominated ystdy or not? Right from the first whistle to end of first half, did you see us winning that game? Abi you dey expect our defenders to dominate midfield?

Saka didn't look too bad ystdy, same as ESR. The only person I knew was very bad upfront was Lacazette. But did Saka and ESR see anything to do upfront? No.

I looked at each individual game before calling out the group and I know why we lost the grip of that game was because Odegaard and Partey weren't their usual self yesterday. They couldn't connect well with our attackers. Xhaka was just his usual normal recycling midfield self, nothing extraordinary.

It can be fatigue, it can be international break wahala, anyone, but I knew how many promising attacks Odegaard and Partey killed cos of their wayward passes.

Calling out Partey and Odegaard when the main culprit was Tavares sounds like agenda to me.

We were dominated all round in that first half. From goalkeeper to centre forward. Saying that the defense fell because of midfield is agenda.

in Wolves game, the main culprit was Gabriel abi. Did we later go on to win the game or not?

Tavarez have a bad game, fine, I didn't deny it, but we can actually still win that game if we weren't dominated all over the pitch. I've watched our games (esp switching to this 433) and while I know our defence have improved massively, I still have hope we'll win any game if our midfield is not dominated cos I know we'll surely conceded one odd goal here and there. In fact, I made that statement even on our good winning run not just something I said ystdy cos of a loss.

I've always been praising Partey and Odegaard when they're on song, why should I keep mute when they drop a stinker?

If the emboldened has any meaning, then why blame two people? The entire team had a bad day, why mentioning two people as if they are responsible for how others play?

Are Partey and Odegaard responsible for the performance of other players?
