           DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that as of 1998 ,the Nigeria 1000 naira notes has the same value or more than 50 thousand naira of today and as at that time the Nigerian government provides free accommodation that was flourished with free bed, television and other things which is a total opposite of what the government is doing today.

                HOW I KNOWN
On Saturday 02/05/2020 I boarded a bus from jabi park Abuja going to EKITI state, when I entered the bus I saw a young pretty lady so I decided to stay beside her even though I'm a shy type or let me say I don't know how to interact with a stranger or I find it very difficult to start a conversation with a stranger, something like that sha, but I managed to greet her and from there we started talking. During our chats I told her how ASUU strike is affecting me as a year student and how bad the government is. Fast forward to the main point, when we reached one of  our Co passengers destination, we had to get out of the bus and stretch our legs become its has been a very long and stressful journey. While the driver is getting the Co passenger her loads, I saw a big mattress at the back of the bus and I jokingly said to the lady that "oh one of the passengers is even relocating", she  smiled and said that the mattress is her own because NYSC just posted her to ekiti state and things are very expensive at the moment so she can't buy another  one because she just paid almost 150k for her accommodation. That was when an elderly man that overheard us jumped into the conversation by asking the lady "you mean NYSC is not providing free accommodation for you guys? and how much are they paying? She looked into his face as said "no free accommodations and and the government is paying 30 thousand naira". The man's question looks suspicious to me so I decided to ask him some question because I will like to know as a student of "HISTORY AND DIPLOMATIC STUDIES " I will like to know about the NYSC past. I asked the man "sir please how much are they paying you during your own time and what year is it" ?
The man looked into my face and said during his time in 1998 the government provided free accommodations with mattress, television and many other things for them and their salary during time (1998) was 1000 naira. fast forward to when the driver is done offloading the woman's load and when we get back into the bus, I told him wow Nigeria was indeed very good during his own time unlike today that everything is not working that even the minimum wages can't buy a bag of rice talk less of doing other things with it. We all laughed and talk about the government and I asked him my second question that "is the 1000 naira salary enough for you or how did you manage just 1000 naira and to my greatest surprise the man said that the amount the enough for him to buy food stuffs including meats eggs etc and also transports himself with it .

WHY I'M SHARING THIS?.

The reason I'm sharing this is to know what really happened to this country (NIGERIA), what went wrong to the extent that the naira lost it's value?, why is the government not giving free accommodations even when they know how hard the country is and what do you think or how can will find solutions to all this problems the country is facing?

Thanks for reading.
