Spy360:Because they're one of core in this structure. You saying the entire team have a bad day means I shouldn't call out any player is like you saying because we won a game, I shouldn't call out any player that performed well. Partey and Odegaard was terrible ystdy which was an anomaly. I pointed that out and you said I shouldn't, that I should just forget it and move on... Haba Spy. Even the way Blueray even brought out his points countering my point was even cool and we ended it on an understanding note(because he brought points), but you, you just came and dismissed my points as agenda ![]() Spy Spy.. no be only you the match vex ystdy. Just calm down ![]() NB: As for the bolded, Yes, most times. As long as those duo are the core structure of that team, it mostly affects how our attackers play. |

Jodera:It's agenda because you are looking for a cheap way to claim that midfield is what has been making us successful. As though defense and attack are just there for numbers. It's like you have been waiting for when we will lose to stake your claim. But it won't work. ![]() The entire team had a bad day as you admit so there's no need calling names as any name you call is already part of the entire team. Simple logic. Besides, 'core structure' (where did you conjure that from ) is absolutely petty as every department as a block is a core structure. Singling out just two people as core structure means we can do without the others. If this isn't so then this new excuse won't hold water. |

Spy360:There was a time you told me quality doesn't matter in this our structure that any player called upon can easily fill in any role as long as say na Arteta be the coach. I know I gave you 3 examples whether if replaced will give us same result and dominance we were always having. (Leno for Ramsdale, Partey for elneny and Saka for Pepe). It was very intentional I did that. NB: I didn't mean others were useless While I'm really Sad Partey is injured, I pray it's not so serious and lengthy. But in the meantime, It will be very very interesting to see who replaces Partey and how arsenal fare from there with the said player as the Base 4. I really don't want us to go back and forth on this right now, but I just want us to look at how we play the match against Brighton while keeping the bolded In mind. I just hope you don't see this as another agenda I'm conjuring, but just a way I'm understanding the structure I've been watching so far(for the past 3½ months). |

Jodera: ![]() I love you man. I presume you were carried away by the sad day and didn't notice how Lokonga performed after replacing Partey. Please do not get me wrong, quality matters but if the system or tactics is right, the influence of quality reduces. Lokonga will fit in as long as the opponents aren't Man City or Liverpool. ![]() |

There are no excuses to make. Arsenal as of now are simply not good enough. We only have the league to play and to come up with excuse of international break, training regine, blah blah is weak and pathetic. Same Liverpool and Mancity that played on the weekend still went out to play Champions League Football recording impressive wins and still have other competitions to play in aside the League. Its sad and truly it's a case of either how bad it can go or when it will ever get back to the high levels. |

Jencejyde:If you watched Liverpool's against Watford you'll know Liverpool played nonsense from beginning till the end. It's just quality Liverpool had plus Watford being Watford that Liverpool snatched the win. I didn't watch Man city match so I can't talk about it. For ours, we know that crystal palace are a very very good side. If truly the guys are tired due to int'l break, then crystal palace is that wrong team to play against. I just hope we pick up our momentum starting against Brighton |

Jencejyde:This talk is outdated and obsolete. Seems you didn't know when we were 4th with games in hand. One bleep and we are not good enough. Guess same applies to Chelsea who should even be worse because they lost 1-4 at home to Brentford. Again comparing this Arsenal to Liverpool and Man City suggests someone who just returned after 5years of being out of planet earth Or perhaps you were thinking of what to post and decided to just post something. Please pardon my harsh words. Na so I dey talk. |

Jodera:He will be fine if he can replicate that second half against Palace. He has to because his career with us will depend on that. I also feel he is a like for like with Partey in terms of their preference to be the lone midfielder. Lokonga was terrible when paired with Xhaka or AMN. Let me also add that ESR didn't do well enough playing as an 8 when Xhaka dropped deep. You see Xhaka eh, forget how bad his decisions sometimes can be, he is a really useful player for a manager that likes tweaking and changing tactics. |

Spy360:Well, I'm not holding any briefs for lokonga yet. I just hope he slots in seamlessly. I like lokonga as a person but I know that role is too demanding. I don't want to use palace 2nd half to fully rate his good display cos I know palace reduced their pressing tempo when he came on reason why I said Brighton will be a good time to watch him. As for Xhaka, I've always been saying it, he's very important to that team. He might not look so, but he his |

This idea of Sambi as a lone 4 no go work. His physicality is not there yet and he lost the ball too much. I don't know but I'll prefer we pair him with Elneny with xhaka at LB. Sambi will combine with Marti the way Ode and Saka do. Elneny sitting deep...Cedric overlapping with xhaka staying back to make it 3 man defence. |

Injury update. Tierney — He will undergo surgery during the weekend. Definitely, we won't be seeing him this season again Partey — He'll be assessed during the weekend. Hopefully it won't be serious as first feared Tomiyasu— Recovering exceptionally. Hopes to be available on matchday Squad against Southampton Source : arsenaldotcom |

It will be interesting to see what Arteta uses as formation this weekend. Another thing is that Laca have been in terrible form for the past one month. He isn't scoring goals, he isn't pressing from the front and he isn't linking up play. It will be better he sits this one out perhaps it'll refresh his head |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 4:18pm On Apr 06, 2022 |
mostob:Me too I'm even afraid of Sambi as lone DM sef, but the options we have aren't even encouraging either. I'm suspecting Arteta might default back to 4231 back while giving tavarez last chance |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 4:29pm On Apr 06, 2022 |
mostob:I have watched Lokonga playing both as a single and double pivot and he plays better alone. It's just as Partey. Your fear is thinking a single pivot means lonely but that's far from it. In fact, a single pivot means more forward passes, more responsibility and more tactical freedom. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 4:30pm On Apr 06, 2022 |
Jodera:I'm not comfortable with Sambi as a lone DM at all.. except we go back to 352. And if Tavarez will play, Xhaka will need to drop back to help him which will allow Marti to come inside. And it's time we start using this false 9 approach to at least see us through this season. |

Spy360:No..this guy is great with his leg...infact his long passes are just so accurate. You remember a particular match where he lost the ball twice and our opponent scored on both ocassions, that's what I'm worried about. As a lone DM, can he withstand the pressure when pressed? Partey being kind of physical is the reason he could play that role well. Imagine Maupay brushing aside Sambi as he attempt to receive a pass from White ![]() |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 4:37pm On Apr 06, 2022 |
Jodera:Can you recall how Partey was fluctuating while playing in a double pivot but quickly started shining the moment he was deployed as a lone midfielder? For most DMs, they prefer playing alone as it gives them more time on the ball and more options for passing. Playing in a double pivot limits the players freedom as he must move in tandem with his partner. Those who succeed as a double pivot are those who have mastered themselves. |
