My fellow Nairalanders! Please felicitate with me because my God is good and kind to me, to him alone be all the glory.
I just received my long awaited PPR. VV for the spouse of an international student. I learnt a lot from this forum and it is very imperative I give back.

My first application was submitted June 2021
Resubmitted a new application via the new portal January 9 2022.
Refusal letter February 9 2022 (Refused Based on Family ties)
I ordered GCMS notes same day.
Reapplied February 22 2022
PPR April 7 2022


A refusal letter hits differently, I was devastated because I thought I had a strong and convincing application. It took me about 2 weeks to get myself to write a new LOE and SOP.

A sweetheart on this platform @mzjanez01 reached out to me and advised I reapply without the notes. She was kind to share how her husband tackled his refusal reasons as well. Jane, you are far too kind oh! Thanks for all the prayers and kind words.

My GCMS notes arrived on the 12th of March, it seems to be the shortest GCMS notes have seen. The VO wrote that “ applicant has strong family ties in Canada”. To be honest, I was disappointed because I was expecting a more detailed notes. (I kuku report the VO to God)
Luckily for me the VO concern has been addressed in the new application.

What i did to Tackle the refusal reason based on family ties? I strengthened my HOME TIES. Having surfed through YouTube and Other forums, I realized that no one knows your story more than YOU when it comes to addressing Home/Family Ties.
I explained my responsibilities to my parent, I wrote extensively about how important my career in Nigeria is, my personal business and ongoing projects.

Aside being an employee of a reputable agency, I further explained my other commitments and responsibilities that will make me return back to Nigeria and I supported my explanations with valid documents. Although the commitments were briefly mentioned in the first application but this time it was detailed and I connected how my absence will affect each of them. I included more documents to support each claim unlike the first application. To be honest, it wasn’t by the documents but God was fully involved. I think Baba God was tired of me murmuring my application number every morning and night, hence the PPR. lol!

The wait for PPR isnt for the faint hearted especially when you see people who applied after you sharing their timelines (e go come be like say na only you waka come). God of NLP answers prayer, I prayed and fasted fervently for this PPR. Chail! IRCC messed with my mental health. The plan was to visit my spouse after his first academic year but I couldn’t because of the pandemic. As it is, the visa got approved just in time for convocation (graduation is this summer) although Graduation wasn’t stated for purpose of visit, it was plainly “family reunification “


May this kind of joy go round. To all PPR hopefuls, it is just a delay not a denial.

Please what are the required documents for passport submission (visitors visa)?

My main concern is if we are required to submit a passport photograph along with the passport and consent form.

Please help!!!

If someone is invited to canada, through the official invitation letter, will proof of fund of the person going to canada still be needed?

Please people, i really need to know what to do here. I submitted my application for a Canadian Visitor visa September 17, did my biometrics February 3. The reason for the delays was that when i was sent my letter for biometrics and after making payment in November, i didn't complete the sending of my payment document. Now since February 3 i have been waiting. I called Canada office on +19056125416 and they asked me to follow up with my local Visa office in Nairobi. I sent them a mail and they said my file is on queue. My wife and children are permanent resident status.

What should i do next?

Please can anyone that is legit. Is my mum suppose to pay another transmission fee again? This is a renewal visa. She did Biometrics in 2019 and it is still valid. Hope to hear from anyone soon. Thanks

February 21- Request for biometrics
March 3rd - Biometrics submitted at vfs Lagos
April 8 - Request for passport

The entire journey took about 6-8weeks and there was no back and forth with IRCC (Thank God for that).

So I just want to know if she needs to add a passport photograph to the documents she is sending. I read the letter from IRCC but there was nothing like that. But I don't want VFS to reason our matter, that's why I'm asking.

We that applied TRV since last year starting from October using the old portal, they seem not to pay attention to our application anymore.
Biometrics since October and UP TILL NOW, no Medical instructions at all talkless of PPR.

Almost 6 months after biometrics and nothing yet. I’ve never seen such application before. I’m so confused.

I don’t think I’m the only one going through this. They should just do what’s right cus it’s starting to look like they’re playing �

No passport photograph is not part of the requirements

You that is inviting will submit your statement of account and in your LOE give a detailed explanations that you will take responsibility of everything for the person your inviting , remember to detail this information that is if your are taking full responsibility but if the person your inviting is taking the responsibility then his/her statement of account is needed

I am in the same shoes. Applied October 2021 via GCkey and haven't heard a word since after my biometrics.

Good morning house,April 18 will make it a year I and my husband did our biometrics for visiting with our 2 kids.And till now no reponse been trying to even check for any new request but something seems to be wrong as it has refused to open.Please are we suppose to do anything or just wait.And I just had a baby if we are given how do I go about my new born.Please someone should help out.Atleast we will know the next step to take than just keep waiting without a response.

Did you save with applicant name or spouse name first.

Your are to save documents using last and first name of the owner and the document name/type.

So if it's for the sponsor, it would be sponsor's last name - first name- doc type(PR card)

If it's for the spouse being sponsored: last name - first name- doc name (police certificate)
