Gen. Gowon was already planning general elections for civilian government to take over from his military administration.
Obasanjo rigged the the 1979 presidential election against Chief Obafemi Awolowo in favour of Alhaji Shehu Shagari.

Whenever you're attacking Tinubu, always direct the attack to Amaechi too. He was part of the union that fought Jonathan and supported Buhari. One thing I discovered about the Igbo people is that they are always quick to put blame on Tinubu while shielding Amaechi. Was it not the same Amaechi that was made buhari campaign coordinator? The same Amaechi building rail line from katsina to Niger republic while Niger republic contributed nothing to the project.
