Well Jesus is the future King of God's Kingdom and his presence means a lot to those living in the first century because his teachings will set the pace so that all those following his footsteps closely will inherit God's Kingdom.
That's what he meant there but as for that Kingdom it is until Jesus began ruling the earth that we all can see it for real, that's why he asked us to continue praying for God's Kingdom to come! Matthew 6:10

In God's Kingdom people will no longer think of choosing rulers for themselves but we will all rely on the standard set by Jesus so there won't be any reason for us to lift up weapons against one another in a bid settle differences {Isaiah 2:2-4; Micah 4:1-3} today Jehovah's Witnesses have used what Jesus taught them to settle all their racial disparities so that none of them is carrying weapons against anyone in the name of patriotism {Psalms 46:9} but do you know that your fellow deeperlife member in another country will carry weapons against you if the ruler of his country is having issues with Buhari?
That has been settled amongst Jehovah's Witnesses due to the teachings of our Master, Lord and King Christ Jesus! 2Corinthians 4:4

Jesus is only coming to reign with those who have already received Him spiritually into their lives on His first coming. If He is not currently reigning in your heart you will not reign with Him in His Second Coming.
