My reasons might not be factual or intellectual enough, but the bit I know I will share. If you lived in Lagos before 1999 like I have, you would know that Lagos State is a microcosm of Nigeria. Nearly every facet, tribe, religion and whatever is present and experienced in Lagos state. When he became governor in 1999 and in the course of his tenure, he introduced the Rapid Response Squad, RRS to tackle crime. He introduced LAWMA to tackle the issue of waste collection and disposal in Lagos. When Obasanjo would not release federal allocation to Lagos state, he created the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, LIRS. He also introduced LASTMA to manage traffic in the state. His ideas and innovations would later be copied throughout Nigeria. Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna, Kano and other states created their own similar agencies in the images of the ones in Lagos state to tackle their state issues. Agencies to tackle traffic, waste management, collect revenue and the likes. Now the issue of LIRS might be controversial because of the connection to Alpha Beta and so on and I cannot say much about it because I do not know the intricacies but who here would offer a solution to a problem and not want to collect royalty every now and then for such solution? Through shrewdness and sheer business acumen, he created an empire for himself and used the proceeds to amass wealth and influence within Lagos state and even outside Lagos state to the point of bankrolling politicians to positions of members of house of reps, senators, governors, a vice president and even a president. Nigeria is a corrupt country and we all know that. We live it. Our daily experiences of jumping queues, switching lanes, tapping electricity, running traffic lights and all that are enough evidences. It is endemic...everything between the spectrum of the poor homeless man under the bridge to the rich man in his mansion at Asokoro or Maitama or Banana Island or Lekki. At a global and national level, the data from Transparency International says it all. Now even though the general sentiment is that the methods through which he, Tinubu accomplished all this might be laced with corruption and shady dealings...he was not found guilty when he was arraigned in court by the EFCC. As far as Nigeria is concerned, he who is without sin should cast the first stone. Going by the unconstitutional but gentleman agreement of power rotation between the North and South of the country, Osinbajo would have been a considerable option but for the fact that he belongs to the current government that has brought monumental and unprecedented woes upon woes to Nigeria as it is today rules him out of the equation for me. What would he do now and differently from the past eight years? I feel he might not be able to break himself from the influence of the shroud of the mysterious cabal that encircle and dictate the affairs and runnings of the country from Aso Rock. He showed shades and potential of this in the days that he acted as President, but the reactions of the cabal to his actions, and his subdequent backing down in the face of such opposition when his "Oga" resumed made me conclude that he lacks the manliness to stand firm. If the rumours about Buhari leaning towards Amaechi, his minister of transport as his successor are true, because of the siting of a Transport University in Daura, the Presidents home town, and the promise of a rail network to Niger Republic plus a refinery and/or oil pipeline...then we will be worse off than we are now as a country. The very definition of nepotism in plain sight! And a very easy tool for the cabal to continue as we are. The cabal, including Buhari fear Tinubu and know they will not be able to wield as much influence on him as others. This is why I will vote for him. They recognise his capacity to be a thorn in their flesh and this will be good for Nigeria. If it is a matter of Tinubu extending his wealth and influence across Nigeria, the cabal are already doing that. They don't just have a single face that we can point. Although they have them in many places...just check out all the appointments to Federal Government parastatals. As far as I am concerned, APC and PDP are the same and all contenders for the position of President of Nigeria are all cut from the same cloth. Infact, in my opinion, every one I have not mentioned distinctively are pretenders to the throne. Including former vice president, Atiku. To close, let me score a cheap point for Tinubu on leadership. One of the traits of a good leader is his ability to replicate leadership in others. The names are there for us...the people who worked under and with him and have gone on to establish themselves as leaders and icons in their own right. The likes of Babatunde Fashola, the governor after him and minister in Buharis administration, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, commissioner for Justice at the time and the Vice President of Nigeria under the Buhari administration, Ambode, a Permanent Secretary at the time and later governor of Lagos State, Aregbesola, a one time governor of Osun state, Obafemi Hamzat, Ben Akabueze, commissioner for Budget and Planning and a head of a parastatal under Buhari's administration and so on. Which leader has Buhari replicated? Sentiments aside and based on Tinubu's precedents, I think he will be a good choice for the job. Unfortunately, Buhari's 8 year reign will turn out to be a waste...his precedents from his military rule were there for us all to see but someway somehow, we missed it. The experience of Goodluck Jonathan's regime now feels like bliss when compared to the travesty of democracy under Buhari. |

Weldone! What a write up! You can as well make him the emperor of Lagos who cares? Tinubu presidential life long dream is dead on arrival. How you manage to vindicate Tinubu and wired Osinbajo into this monumental failure of a government still baffles me. Lagos is big enough and good enough for Tinubu but the reason why he felt Ambode is not good enough for Lagos because he spoke of decongesting an over saturated Lagos will never be exercise from Abuja. In your right senses, I mean if not tramadol senses you want a Muslim to replace another Muslim, since 1999 it has not happened and Tinubu has nothing to make that happen. Tell your principal to go and continue enjoying is bourdilon money. |

All lies. 1. I have been living in Lagos before 1999, Marwa had done a good job as governor, lagos roads were much better, traffic was better managed, security was better ( operation sweep, dealt swiftly with robbers) area boys were arrested and rehabilitated and called good boys, many housing estates were built. No! lagos was not hell on earth by the time Tinubu took over, Lagos was a lot better than what it is now, almost 30 years later 2. Tinubu only commercialised Lagos government making huge sums of money for himself and cronies 3. All over the world which city with the status of Lagos does not have good roads, good planning, a functional metropolitan rail system, good drainage system, CCTV cameras etc? 4. Tinubu's antecedents are covered in a miasma of dubiety and fraud? From his name to his educational qualifications to his philosophy and plan for Nigeria, Nigeria's internal reputation will take a tumble if he emerges as president 5. He is tired and worn out, his philosophy and outlook to life is too superficial and covered in narcisism, he enjoys superfluous titles - Asiwaju, leader, jagaban etc, he lacks modesty, by now the name Bola Tinubu should be so solid it should trounce every other title - what are Awolowo's titles? Do you remember? Obasanjo had to even throw away the title of ''General'' which he actually worked extremely for, fighting a civil war and actually taking the instrument of surrender, but Tinubu will keep boasting of superficial and meaningless titles- he doesn't have to call himself Asiwaju, he is a leader no one is debating that! Is he the only title holder from Borgu? Why is he the only one shouting Jagaban? Narcissism or childishness? |

Even though I have heard many things about Tinubu, he is one guy who is serious about getting the job. We have seen where unserious candidates have led us to. Pre 1999, Alex Ekwueme set up the party with G34 and was cerebral, experienced and mature to run; the military gave it to Obasanjo. In 2006, the big names in PDP were forced to step down for an unknown and reclusive Yar'adua and an even unknown Jonathan. In 2015, someone who had retired was foisted on us. To me, Tinubu is the most prepared. Osinbajo is part of a failed government, and it would be hard for him to divorce himself from it. What I will not accept is those who deny the strides in Lagos State. I live there. I visited hospitals, some government agencies set up by Tinubu and witnessed LAWMA at work. I will not join to condemn Tinubu because of hate I cannot justify. Here is my worry: from President Buhari's antecedents, he is unlikely to hand over the ticket to a Southerner. Now that Southerners are trooping into the race, the dark horse is not out yet. How many Northerners have declared? Anyway, the Southern delegates votes will be badly divided and the Northern bloc will vote one direction-North. Let our Southern politicians use their tongues to count their teeth. |

Mumu post. 1. Tinubu is a Muslim. He will handover to a Muslim after 8years. He will also choose a Muslim northern candidate. This DISQUALIFIES him already. 2. Tinubu isn't coming to rule Nigeria but just like Buhari, fulfil a lifelong ambition. 3. He will tax all Nigerians and earn money from everyone even after death by setting up companies like AB etc |

West1side:Marwa gardens, Now MKO Abiola gardens and Lagos state government staff quarters extension at Ogba and Alausa! You people are just unclever revisionists, the truth is that Lagos did far better under Marwa in 2 years than under APC in 25 years. No! Lagos wasn't dirty and stinking before 1999, it became dirty and stinky after Tinubu took over, he then privatized rubbish collections to solve the same problem he created. Agberos were few and better behaved under Marwa but now they are the main authority in Lagos Schools were better funded, teachers better paid, roads were better maintained under Marwa How come Lagosians like Marwa a lot almost 30 years after he left government? It doesn't matter that he was a military man, Hausa and a Moslem? Unclever and unserious revisionists, carry your Stinky Tinubu gospel and stick it where the sun does not shine, it is not selling, even Buhari is not buying it. |

For instance in Oshodi, Mile 12, Shomolu, Mushin e.t.c was nothing to write home about til Fashola came on board! Infact it was under Tinubu that flood almost swallowed the whole of Lagos State and he was clueless until Fashola came in. I know of roads already built which he only demarcated and claimed he was the one that constructed them! Portholes still exist but under him was a problem with no solution in sight! Tinubu was a greedy dictator as can be see in all the properties he acquired He's is someone known with a drug case and you are making a case for him to become the president ![]() Na to turn the restless Nigerian youths to drug addicts be that! What is wrong with you guys Is the moral so low that you are willing to jeopardize the future of this country for just 30pieces of silver![]() Nothing last forever! |

I did not like Tinubu initially because of the shout of corruption, corruption his traducers were making but then I looked all over and saw that all our politicians are corrupt just like Tinubu. After I was through with that,I began to look at the antecedents of each and everyone of them development-wise,growth-wise,innovations and ideas etc and I saw that Tinubu towered over the rest.Except another person comes out different from these aspirants that we already know their not so lustre antecedents, then I pray that Tinubu wins. I dont want to go through the kind of gruesome period we have gone through these past years, please. I am a Lagosian from Epetedo and I am proud that Lagos is the fifth economy in Africa in this 2022. Nigeria was rich that they said one of our Presidents once said we didnt have any problem with money but how to spend it...foolishness at its peak. Nigeria is down now.I remember when Okonjo Iweala said that FG was borrowing money to pay workers in 2014.Bad management. Nigeria has gone worst under this FG.Another bad management. Lagos was rich and it continues to be rich because of diligent and astute managers of its finances and administration piloted by Tinubu until date. When Lagos loses Tinubu,we will know what is up except God gives us another person that has the midas touch like Tinubu. It is a rare gift.God gave Awolowo this kind of gift but we lost him to sentiments. I pray we do not lose another chance. |
