In my opinion this is a very sensitive aspect of USSD security measures banks in Nigeria has to do something about. I don't want to mention names... but I am speaking based on personal experience with my bank. I discovered that when I choose to recharge airtime using the USSD option, its a straight forward process that doesn't request for any password or personal security PIN... This security vulnerability has made it very easy for criminals to steal funds in value of airtime and some other purchases and subscriptions using the USSD code option of specific banks. It is because you are recharging your line(self i.e the account is linked to the number). If it was another line or your second line, it would request for pin. |
