The Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan was more orderly than the chaotic US Biden withdrawal from Afghanistan where they lost 10 soldiers needlessly to terror attacks on the last day and the Taliban swept back into power as the ran away with their tail in between their legs. Same Taliban they ousted from power swept back into power like a tornado,rendering a 20 years effort that cost thousands of lives and billions of taxpayers money useless.

The Russians will achieve their objectives in Ukraine but at the cost of lives and hardware. The fact remain war is not easy.
