I sent my dad's passport to VFS Abj for his visa. The package was not accepted by VFS and sent back to us.
Does anyone have an idea of why it was VFS would not accept the package? he did his biometrics in Lagos and I paid the transmission fee (sent to Abj because the Abj office is fast). it was sent through Red Star Express courier could that be the reason? just trying to figure out what happened so we do not make the same mistake again.

You should get a decision before the intended date and even if you don’t you can always use your visa to make subsequent trips.

Just that the convention that I applied for will start from 1july to 3 July and I don't think it will make sense if it delays beyond that date

What address in Abuja did you send it to? You might have sent to a different address

You should wait for the new passport to be out before applying. New passport takes 2-3 weeks processing time by immigration services.if ur current state has alot of applicant like Lagos, edo , Abuja Kano and kaduna. Then you could try other immigration office like ebonyi, bayelsa ,sokoto and benure were less passport application is Being received.

Reconfirm the checklist of documents you sent to Abuja. Did you include his biometric slip that was issued to him in Lagos, also confirm the consent form was filled correctly and the correct amount for transmission fee was paid.?

You can send an e-mail to VFS - info.cannig@vfshelpline.com if you feel all was in order and tagged it urgent- itemise what you sent to them to enable them clarify why it was returned.

You cannot predict when it comes to IRCC. Some applications get processed quickly, while others take a bit longer.
Another option you have is to re-apply on the new portal if the initial application was submitted on the old portal. The new portal seems faster with visit visa applications than the old portal lately, but you will pay another application fee.

But if your purpose of travelling is not super urgent and just for the tourist, I would advise you to be patient more.
You can raise webform and send an email to Lagos, Abuja and Nairobi, but don’t send multiple emails if the purpose of the visit is not timebound or urgent.

I understand the anxiety; try to distract yourself with some other stuff. A decision would come, don’t worry. You can also give It another three weeks, then order your GCMS notes again to compare with the previous if there is any progress in your file.

If you look it, most tourist application on the old portal with very long waiting time do get approved because the officer will look at it from the beginning. But on the new portal, the refusal rate is high. This is because Chinnok will process your application, and if you do not have good travel history, Chinnok will recommend you a refusal. And this is what the IRCC will send to you. Chinnok operation is highly discriminatory.

There are some concerns over the level of bias in the review process over temporary resident applications, especially on African countries. I share your sentiments.
Many people are beginning to speak up against these levels of bias, and we hope there would be some improvements soon.

Canada issue tourist visa based on the validity of the passport.

Wait till it is out before you apply, Canada won’t issue visa beyond the validity of the passport.

Hello house, trust we are all doing great. my mum came over 2 months ago and i purchased a travel insurance from Ax mansard. My mum slipped and fell as a result of the snow and her knee was dislocated. I understand the travel insurance covers medical/hospital expenses, i want to take her to the clinic for medical assistant. Hello everyone, I applied for visitor visa for my parents on the 30th of December last year with the new portal.
They completed their biometrics a few days later and it was updated within a week
I even asked them to do medicals which was also updated a few days later too. (I was told that they did not have to medicals as it is not necessary these days by people who got theirs without medicals. I am not sure how.)
Ever since the medical update no other update.
Eligibility has not yet started and background check is still in process.
The processing time is now beyond the application processing time for Nigerian applicants, 102 days. I am sure it is being processed in Kenya because in a reply to a webform to submit the medicals slip obtained, It was highlighted that the file was being processed in Nairobi.
I have sent numerous other webforms as a representative and they have also sent numerous web forms too as the applicants. No response has been received yet.
What else can i do? They are supposed to be in Canada in May.
