Chinese Court Sentences American English Teacher To Death by Sundaland(op): 5:11pm On Apr 22, 2022

A Chinese court sentenced an American citizen to death on Thursday for killing his former girlfriend, state media reported.

Shadeed Abdulmateen, who taught at the Ningbo University of Technology, was charged with the intentional homicide of a 21-year-old Chinese woman surnamed Chen, according to Chinese state media.

Shadeed Abdulmateen was found guilty of stabbing his 21-year-old girlfriend when she tried to end the relationship, according to the media outlet.

After a disagreement over their breakup in June 2019, Abdulmateen arranged to meet and talk with Chen at a bus stop in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, before killing her with a "folding knife," said the Ningbo Intermediate People's Court in its verdict.

Ningbo Intermediate People’s Court ruled that Abdulmateen had lied to Chen that he was divorced, and they soon developed a relationship, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
