Ibedc head no correct at all, light no good them still they reject. I think the Discos are the major problem we have, cos i dont understand why they are still rejecting the little that is being generated.
It is a deliberate action in order not to pay the TSN viz a viz the generating stations, though will still bill consumers at the end of the month. Discos are the major problem. Same reasons they will never allow prepay scheme to succeed in the country.

1.Government running the thing didn't make it better. For most of my life, NEPA ran power, and did a bad job of it.

2.It costs and may cost a lot of money...far more than what we earn from oyel and loans, to get 24 hour power.

3.Privatisiaiton worked for the telecoms sector...we went from 300000 lines under NITEL to nearly 100 million lines under the GSM privatisaiton.

4.The problem is, government in privatising power kept the right to set prices...and kept them below what it costs to produce power..and thus many power companies run at a loss...and if they do not reject power, their debt would shoot shoot up.
See take it or leave it. Privatization of critical infrastructure is bad for any society.

Reason we must hold office holders accountable. Private individuals are only interested in profit and as far as they can make profit while selling darkness they're cool.

We like to copy rubbish. In 2005, Australian government wanted to sell its stake in Snowy hydro an Energy generating and retailing company and there was a massive public outrage. The government had to cancel the planned sale and until today the company has been growing massively.

We cant continue to sell our national assets. Nigerians must hold its leaders accountable.

Saudi Aramco,
Sinopec Group,
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation,
China National Petroleum Corporation,
PEMEX,
PETRONAS,
National Iranian Oil Company; these are all government owned and they're in control of energy in the world.

We must not shy away from taking responsibility over our years of silence while the country is run to the ground by unpatriotic elements. Filthy politicians that sell us short for kick backs.

That is the inferiority mentality black man must do away with. It is possible. We have large expanse of uninhabited land where the nuclear plant can be sited and train our personnel and employ services of other expert to manage the plant.
It's not inferiority complex in this matter. There is something called Boko Haram, Bandit, Herdsmen and Unknown gunmen in Nigeria.

This is the main issue. Those guys a dumb and may not even understand the far reaching implications of blowing up a nuclear power plant. And trust me, I don't think any region would want that thing cited in their region until Nigeria gets security right.

Essentially, the DISCOS are not making enough money from end users to pay for excess power

1.Cost of power is too low due to tarrifs being kept below the cost of production(and the subsidy paid cannot cover the losses...even with subsidies, DISCOS still need an extra trillion naira)

2.30% of subscribers do not even pay for the power they use...government, rich and poor.

At the end, DISCOS have to reject power, or go into more debt.

Nigeria has to pay for power at the market price for all this to end. You want power, then pay the money for it.
What happened to the darkness we have been paying for all this year's?
Nigerians will only pay for what they enjoy ..
Can you ask your self why people are buying generator and fueling it at the same time..
The same people you claimed not paying for electricity but have money to buy feul every day.
Give us light Nigerians will pay

At the end, the above are run profitably. (except Iran which has a subsidy in place, but the subsidy is also pushing them into debt).

We can have a successful government 'company' if they are run profitably...not being forced to sell their services at half price, not having a large percentage of consumers not paying for their service, and being compensated for their losses with government subventions which don't cover losses adequantely.

As seen in Nigeria.

Like I said

1.We pay for power at a price below production

2.Which means DISCOS and GENCOS run at a loss

3.No money to fix things

4.Hence in darkness.

We have a working GSM sector because we pay the price the GSM companies set.

Likewise, you can buy foodstuff at the market because the trader is allowed to set his price, and make enough profit to pay supplier.

Power sector does not have that benefit.

The BEDC credits I bought last year is still remaining.

I have lost hope and I am building my power grid and will no longer need BEDC forever soon.

This is the bitter truth.

That's why i pity whoever will replace Buhari, the Prices of Fuel and electricity must increase. Naira will be floated and our Over bloated civil service will be down sized, that Steve Orosanya report will be implemented.

This amongst many things must be done to kickstart our Macro Economic Growth

I daresay the heavens did not fall because the terms of that contract allowed Yaradua to do what he did. The terms of the contract with the DISCOS and GENcos don't allow for that.

Differing contracts.

1.It is one thing to build a refinery, it is another to generate the funds to run it well.

2.Dangote was able to build his refinery via loans from banks (most of the cash) plus 3 billion dollars of his own money.(Bnaks gave him the loan because if he fails to pay up...they can get money from his other assets to pay themselves....then AMCON makes life much easier....)

3.And like I said in 1)....he has to pay for maintenance, upgrades, etc. And if he cannot sell fuel at a profit from that refinery, problem will start.

You cannot make fuel above N250 and sell it at N162 AND have profit to pay for maintenance, upgrades, etc.
You daresay?
Are you kidding me?
You don't know anything about the terms of contract..
And yet you are making assumptions?
Why would Dangote,a business MOGUL..
Buy a company on terms that are unfavorable to him?
Yaradua terminated the contract..
Because he had the political will to do it..
Something Buhari clearly lacks..
And why would you sit in the comfort of your home and assume that Dangote cannot run a successful refinery?
You think he just wake up and decide to build a refinery without any feasibility studies?
And what's wrong with obtaining bank loans to establish a business?
YOU think that you can walk into any bank yourself and get billions of dollars of credit facilities from them?
That is called being credit worthy..
The Banks are not charity organizations..

Whether APC or pdp that is your business, do not expect electricity, November 7th 2013 Jonathan mortgaged your electricity infrastructure to quacks for 25 years.

The Federal Government Claim they don’t have the $12 billion dollars to renege from the Agreement.

If Mumu Jonathan had gone to companies like ESKOM, Siemens GMBH in 2013, like President Buhari did in 2020, you would be singing a different tune today.

Jonathan messed you up, a bad tree can never yield good fruits, enjoy your privatization.

What was the track record of people like the Osibudus & Ayenis, late Captain Hosa in electricity before distribution companies were sold to them?
What is all this it's PDP or it is APC. I know you people are politicians and so you are playing us like a ball. You are saying it is PDP now. If invariably PDP takes over the government, there and then they will say it is APC and the blame game continues while the country continues to die gradually.
What the report is saying is that the discos refuses to accept the small power that is generated for distribution !!!. I don't think this should have anything to do with APC or PDP. The only reason why they reject power is because they can always bring any bill and we will be compelled to pay since their are no meters. Can somebody, party or no party help us to beg them to give us meters. Once consumers are metered no need to keep fighting over APC or PDP is responsible again as the power provider must then provide power for them to get our money.

This is 21-Century, for God's sake!
All those who are enjoying now, by putting Nigeria in perpetual darkness do travel outside Nigeria to -Ghana,Dubai,London,New York etc. They do see how things work there, yet they are benefiting fraudulently through corruption here in Nigeria by making sure that things wouldn't work!

And to think that these DISCOc are collecting money from people for services not rendered.

An Example id PHEDC, recently in late March 2022 they decided to throw in balances on some prepaid meters claiming it was unpaid amounts on the accounts before they were changed to prepaid meters! Some of these balances have been on the accounts for over 5 years!

Why are they suddenly discovering that there were outstanding amounts on these customers account sin 2022?

Where these amounts not supposed to have been cleared be issue the prepaid meters?

is it the fault of the customer that some idiot in PHEDC did not do their jobs?

A call to the customer care did not resolve the issue, these entities are just robbing people blind, too bad no one cares anymore.

Tell consumers to stop paying estimated bills an put a flat rate on all those without prepaid meters.

There is no motivation to distribute power since these Discos just share estimated bills to consumers. If they don't distribute, they get paid.
My schoolwent on December holiday on 3rd of Dec. When we resume on 7th Jan I've gotten a bill. And our wires disconnected. Three months later, we have been using Gen ever since but Ikeja is still sending us bills.

What Ikeja is doing lately, in my area at Ijegun is bring light 5 mins twice daily. And we still get our normal bills

Now, tell us where in the world such is permitted ?
