The way some you talk about what you have zero knowledge of is annoying. Tell me what Siemens and EKSOM will do in an industry where the market design in flawed and only few people in Nigeria have deep understanding of Power Systems and Electricity market.

What did Buhari do? I am talking as someone that is in daily contact with the Chief Technical officer to the FG on Siemens deal. You are blaming GEJ for privatization........but GENCOS have increased capacity as contained and required in their contract with BPE. The TCN that is whooly owned by the FG, what has been their performance over the years? Till date, there is no SCADA......Till date, there is no contract for anxilarry services. Till date, those in charge of regulation have no sense of direction. What has this government done other than signing PPAs with some new plants while our NIPPS are redundant.

Before you respond to me, get the most knowledgeable person in the power sector in Nigeria to help you argue with me on Power system and electricity market and the situation in NESI at large.

You are here shifting all the blames to the buyers of DISCOS as if they are responsible solely for the issues in the power sector. Do you know the imbalance mechanism in NESI and how Discos are even penalized for taking more than their allocation in their Vesting Contracts. Stop this blame game and seek for knowledge from those that know.

I have told your regulator what they need to do to improve the sector, but everyone including those in APC govt now are making some illegal money from the sector.

If you ask me, I will tell you that unless the knowledge gap is sorted, we will keep spending billions with no improvement in the sector. There are other issues like corruption and weak regulation, but the number one issue is knowledge gap. 99% of those working in the industry only have a narrow understanding of the sector. A liberalized electricity market is very complex and dynamic, and we need people with deep understanding of the technical, the economics, and the regulations.

buckeyemedia:
Whether APC or pdp that is your business, do not expect electricity, November 7th 2013 Jonathan mortgaged your electricity infrastructure to quacks for 25 years.

The Federal Government Claim they don’t have the $12 billion dollars to renege from the Agreement.

If Mumu Jonathan had gone to companies like ESKOM, Siemens GMBH in 2013, like President Buhari did in 2020, you would be singing a different tune today.

Jonathan messed you up, a bad tree can never yield good fruits, enjoy your privatization.

What was the track record of people like the Osibudus & Ayenis, late Captain Hosa in electricity before distribution companies were sold to them?

Essentially, the DISCOS are not making enough money from end users to pay for excess power

1.Cost of power is too low due to tarrifs being kept below the cost of production(and the subsidy paid cannot cover the losses...even with subsidies, DISCOS still need an extra trillion naira)

2.30% of subscribers do not even pay for the power they use...government, rich and poor.

At the end, DISCOS have to reject power, or go into more debt.

Nigeria has to pay for power at the market price for all this to end. You want power, then pay the money for it.
Shut this market-price narrative already it's bullshit.

The problem with discos (and gencos too) is the dilapidated transmission infrastructure. Let FGN unbundle Transmission Coy of Nigeria and watch as miracles happen in the power sector

Let them share prepaid. You cant give estimated bills and expect people to keep paying.
With my prepaid meter, i dont mind if they increase the price of electricity as far as it is available. I will always program myself with my usage. Estimated billing is the reason people waste electricity. When you start using a prepaid, you will learn that using bulbs and other appliances during the day is useless

To them everything is business. The lesser the load they take the lesser the amount they will pay. Little wonder they are not so eager to issue repaid meters to their customers. Most are on estimated billing where they rip people off on a monthly basis for supplying them darkness almost on a 24hr basis.
Everything jaga jaga for naija.

Of course he Fashola will perform a miracle, just what you Nigerians always expect, & fix property that belongs to other people?

7th November 2013, we were made to believe the future will be alright & bright, well today is the future no electricity, PHCN privatization the biggest pdp scam.

Jonathan & pdp sold your electricity infrastructure to quacks, do not expect any electricity in future.

Don’t blame me, just name just one reputable company that purchased any of your electricity infrastructure from pdp?
That is not an excuse where Fashola made that careless statement, he would have shut his mouth back then

I have lost hope and I am building my power grid and will no longer need BEDC forever soon.

They do, and most people chase them with cutlass

And they also unfortunately don't have enough cash to do so, leading to my previous point.

And even if everyone has a meter, there remains the problem that government keeeps on setting their prices, and keeps on keeping it below the cost of producing power

Hence the disco rejection of power...they aren't rasing enough funds to pay NBET.

Where they are now is not important, Jonathan supervised the sales, so the buck stops on his table. His supervising role underscores his Incompetence.

Jonathan privatized electricity in 2013, less than 2 years later, Fashola and APC took over, this is now almost 8 years with no single improvement, but rather than vote the criminals that took over in 2015 for not adding anything to improve the system they inherited, this numskull goes back to about 8 years later to look for Jonathan to blame as though APC does not have people with brain to improve the structure. The opposite of what Jonathan did in 2013 is the Nigeria with NEPA criminals doing little or nothing to collect the bills for electricity consumed, it took years to fix transformer that needed fixing. We can go on
Is it a crime.for APC dumb heads to review the 2013 privatization and find solution for the areas not working?

You may be located in areas benefitting from special grids eg Okada has its own power station (a private setup) and there are areas that benefit from it as it's transmission lines runs into the city.

In GRA, only a few streets enjoy fairly good power supply.

Ugbor GRA axis - 3 hours on, 3 hours off at best!

Off Airport road, Iyekogba Estate and beyond, with the rest of the 90% of Edo, darkness!!!

Let them install prepaid meter to everyone and you will see huge improvement.

They are rejecting the energy because they have unmetered customers to bill via estimated bill.
