Corruption is the bane of Nigeria's development, and one issue that will determine the fate of each of the political parties and their candidates is corruption. The majority of Nigerians say that they will stand against the emergence of leaders who are perceived to be corrupt. What this implies is that they will look out for, and only vote for candidates that have not been found to be corrupt. This is why the APC should be careful with whom it gives its ticket.

As the APC presidential primaries draw closer, several aspirants have declared their intentions to run for president on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. Among them are people who fall in the category of those perceived to be corrupt. They have amassed so much wwelth that they are willing to pay anything to clinch the presidential ticket of the party. If they succeed, it is obvious that their candidacy will be too hard to sell to the Nigerian voter.

It is obvious that APC will be jeopardizing its chances if it gives its ticket to such a person. The opposition would use it to campaign against the party, while Nigerians will reject the person outrightly.

In the APC fold, one aspirant carries with him unblemished antecedents. From his days in the academic community, to his time as the Lagos State Attorney General, to his present office as Nigeria's vice-president, he has maintained clean sheets. He hasn't soiled his hands. Therefore, the issue of corruption is far from him.

Prof Yemi Osinbajo is the jewel of inestimable value. He is APC's greatest assest for the presidency. Having maintained unblemished antecedents, the best choice APC can make, if it is desirous of retaining the presidency, is to give him the presidential ticket.

Osinbajo is APC's jewel of inestmable value. It is left for the national delegates to place the interest of the party first and do what is right for the party. Only a man with unblemished records like Osinbajo will guarantee APC's victory.
