That Benzema is been hyped up for the next ballon d or shows the lack of quality strikers in the modern game now. Benzema has not done what great players like drogba, Eto, Rooney, Shevchenko, crespo, Suarez, kun etc did in their prime.

Debryune and Sallah should be among top of the list, they are so underrated.

Remove drogba and Crespo from that place immediately

benzema is the hottest favorite for the ballon because of his hot individual stats this season dt seems to be his best ever but I think the UCL would be a key factor in determining the winner since the usual favorites like messi n cr7 did nothing this year..
Madrid already gat the league n if dey win the UCL or even making the finals would make benzema win it easily
if city win the league n the UCL, de bruyne will win it and if sallah wins 3 trophies or the UCL and the league means he may win it..
It’s World Cup year and it plays a huge factor.
if benzema gets knocked out next week, he may also win it If city n Liverpool shares the UCL and the EPL..

What he (the comment quoted) meant was that CR7 wasn't the Top scorer, Top assists, Top chances created and Man of the Tournament in one single tournament he played.

Also Madrid has lost more games in this champions league as Barca lost between 2018 - 2020 (combined) .

Even in Laliga, Messi had more goals & assists than Benzema has currently - last season.

The same Mob voted for Benzema as third best BDO even though he won no major trophy last season.

I certainly think he(Benz) deserves it this year though. Hope he wins.

It's a World Cup year and that will somewhat play a very big factor, but for now Karim is #1 on the list.

World Cup would be played nov/dec, so it won’t affect this year’s ballon d’or. It would affect the next year’s own. So I believe with this his current performance he’s good to win it.
